Earlier today, I watched a friend show me how he created a "flat-top" fence in Revit by hosting it on a slab. Curious, I asked, "Why the slab under the fence?" His answer was to keep the fence's top flat. While this works 😁 , there's a little trick that can save some effort (and many users might not even notice it!). Here's the tip: Select the fence or panel, and instead of hosting it on the slab, host it directly on the ground. Adjust the path and look at the top menu—there’s an option to set the slope. Just check "flat" and you’re good to go. No slabs needed! This trick is quick and simple and helps streamline your design process. Hope it saves you some time! Happy weekend, everyone! 🌞

I BELIEVE that it is always helpful to come back to basics, especially when you have access to an expert instructor like Paul Aubin on Linked in. One challenge I've often faced in my architecture and design career is managing multiple project versions to present different design alternatives. But whenever I could design in Revit Arch, I haven't had this problem, thanks to Revit’s Design Options tool, which allows me to create all design alternatives within a single project file. With Enscape’s eye-level perspective+realistic renders, my clients can effortlessly explore different design options with a single click. This workflow is particularly effective in my sector—interior design—where providing multiple options is essential. Regarding the Phasing tool, beyond managing phases like demolish plans, construction, etc., this course expanded my understanding of how different timelines and phases can creatively enhance project management—for example, in custom legends, future adjustments, hiding elements, and more. #Revit #DesignOptions #Phasing #PaulFAubin #HomeFurnishings #Architecture #Enscape

What if I told you you could detail Revit families for as-built models without fully modeling the geometry? This might not be a groundbreaking revelation, but it’s a technique I haven’t seen widely adopted. The key is to embed Detail Items into families. There are numerous benefits of this approach, with very few drawbacks: ✅ Reduces production time. ✅ They are embedded in Revit Families. No need to manually add them to Views—they’re already integrated. ✅ Smaller file sizes. Keeps both family and project files smaller and more manageable. ✅ They are flexible and controlled by the parent family’s parameters. ✅ You have full control over the appearance of the drafted Detail Item. ✅ It enhances the model geometry and can provide additional information that could be difficult to model, like damaged areas. ✅ Text annotations can be embedded in the detail item. The only downside is that the 3D model will have a simplified appearance, which may impact perspective views and rendering outputs. What solutions are you using to detail as-built models without burdening the client with large files, extended production times, and higher costs? If you found this post insightful, please share it with your network. #revit #historicbuildings #realitycapture #digitaltwin #asbuilts #architecture #design
