The city’s tourism industry is thriving, with impressive hotel bookings reflecting the momentum from TDU: 🚵 This weekend, hotel occupancy is at an average of 77 per cent, up 22 per cent on last year. 🏌 Forward occupancy for LIV Golf (14 – 16 February) is currently at 66 per cent, up 20 per cent on last year 🏉 Gather Round (10 – 13 April) hotel bookings are kicking off to a good start, with an average forward occupancy of 85 per cent, peaking at 92 per cent on Friday, 11 April. How to exhibit sustainably (Top Tip Tuesday: IMEX Edition) Research lower emission travel options. We decided to take the train from London to Frankfurt, which took 5.5 hours. We took the Eurostar from St Pancras station without loads of queuing or luggage restrictions at the airport. When we arrived in Brussels, we had a slight delay, but we made the most of it and had a few drinks in the sun while we waited. Then, we were on the last stretch, and it was nice to travel through the countryside on the way to Frankfurt. Take your exhibition stand with you. Yes, it’s a few extra bags to carry, but it wasn’t that difficult without any luggage restrictions. The trains in Europe are spacious, making it easy to load the bags onto the train. Remember to pack it up and take it back with you so you can reuse it at the next event you go to. Throughout the event, to get around the city, why not opt for e-scooters, bikes, or trains rather than taxis, if that’s an option for you? We decided to use e-scooters from our hotel to the venue on the first two days when we didn’t have our bags. Research local suppliers if you’re hosting on-stand events. They can help you deliver a more sustainable option. We hosted a ‘Zero Waste, Maximum Taste Happy Hour,’ where we teamed up with a local beer company offering zero-waste alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer. Using TRACE by isla to plug in the data, we compared the emissions of flying vs going by train for 3 members of staff. You can see the difference in the comments. And that’s how we exhibited sustainably at IMEX Frankfurt. Don'ts: - Be loud; appreciate quiet and respectful behaviour. - Skip smaller museums like the Musée de l'Orangerie. - Ignore dress codes in high-end restaurants. - Forget to validate your Metro ticket. - Rush your meals; dining is a leisurely experience.
