Sustainable in the construction industry? A decisive factor for us: the longevity of the structures. Once built, our constructions should fulfil their purpose for as long as possible and remain visually appealing. 30 years ago, in 1994, we designed two membrane roofs for the Sternauto car dealership in Magdeburg, which shade the entrance area and parts of the car park. In addition to providing comfort and a pleasant climate, the two structures also create a visual connection across the property. Project anniversaries on this scale show that detailed and custom planning, a scientific design approach and careful material selection pay off. Even after three decades, they shine with the same elegance and efficiency as on day one. In addition to durability, our shading solutions stand for innovative technology and timeless design. This project is a living example of how well thought-out architecture can last for decades and retain its value. . . #architecture #lightweightstructures #lightweightarchitecture #longevity #innovation #design #mercedesbenz #sunshade

#Sustainability and #Aesthetics: let's embrace the challenge! 🎨 🤔 In the world of architecture and design, there are a lot of examples that sustainability must come at the expense of aesthetics: the #functionality prevails on the #shape. 🖐 But this couldn’t be further from the truth, at least for cement and concrete. ✅ By integrating sustainable #materials with innovative #design, we can achieve #buildings that are as beautiful as they are sustainable literally from the foundations! ❓ How to? Take, for example, the use of #netzero #Carbon #Cement. This material not only reduces #embodied carbon but also allows for #creative and stunning architectural expressions. 💡 Let's imagine an iconic #project like the Bosjes Chapel (built in SA, 2016) made with a net zero carbon cement: we don’t have to compromise on beauty to achieve sustainability! ✨Let’s challenge the notion that we must choose between sustainability and aesthetics. Instead, let’s embrace the #possibilities that arise when we #combine the two. 📢 Dear #designers, we can build a present and a future where our buildings are both sustainable and gorgeous, are you ready? #evoZero #cement #concrete #design [Picture by ArchDaily]

Simplicity in Architecture: The Ultimate Sophistication Leonardo da Vinci's timeless wisdom, "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication," resonates profoundly in architecture and sustainability. In an era where complexity often dominates, embracing simplicity in design enhances aesthetic appeal and promotes environmental sustainability. Architectural simplicity involves a thoughtful reduction of elements to their essential forms, creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful. This approach minimises waste, reduces resource consumption, and enhances energy efficiency, aligning perfectly with sustainable practices. By stripping away unnecessary complexities, architects can create buildings that are not only visually stunning but also environmentally responsible. Incorporating simplicity into architectural design fosters a harmonious relationship between structures and their surroundings. It encourages the use of natural materials, passive solar design, and efficient energy systems. This minimalistic approach not only reduces the carbon footprint but also enhances the well-being of occupants by creating serene, uncluttered spaces. In the pursuit of sustainability, simplicity serves as a pillar of sophisticated design. By prioritising clean lines, open spaces, and sustainable materials, architects can craft enduring structures that exemplify the beauty of minimalism while championing ecological responsibility. Embracing simplicity truly epitomises the ultimate sophistication in modern architecture.
