🌿🛹 The Karma Curve 🛹🌿 After a dozen fun years of learning, building, scaling, and expanding, Nicolai and I are excited to share a creation born from our experiences with new markets. The Karma Curve. This model, much like a well-loved recipe, is our way of contributing to the community that has supported our growth. Developed with a spirit of love, karma, and support, the Karma Curve is designed to simplify the complex process of market expansion. I had the privilege of refining these ideas at LEMONSQUEEZE (ACQUIRED by Knotel inc.) working with Peter, and assisting companies such as Templafy (thanks to Christian) Falcon.io (cheers to Ulrik and Toni) and Planday (shoutout to Christian and Anders) Thank you all! Now, with Nicolai’s involvement, the Karma Curve has truly taken shape, and it’s now yours! The model is free and super simple, hoping to inspire and aid as many as possible. Wevent Post-Release Recap: We are Speechless 🤯 The 23rd of May 2024 probably marks the most exciting and stressful 6 hours of our lives. Announcing & releasing the app on every platform while simultaneously running several support conversations and monitoring our backend to ensure it survived the load and ran smoothly. Everything was going perfectly as planned until we were blocked by our email sending provider due to the high volume of emails we were sending to the 65’000 registrations of our waiting list. Nevertheless, we resolved this issue the same night, answered all the support requests, and went to bed at 5 am, only to sleep a mere 4 hours before fixing some minor bugs the next day. With more than 2 weeks post-release and the release stress somewhat behind us, we are looking back at some incredible milestones. - 45'000 downloads on all stores - 38'000 registered users - 1'000 hosted events - Charting in Appstore in several countries - An ambassador program with around 500 selected ambassadors We’re thrilled about the positive impact we’re making and are eager to see what the future holds. An Amazing Hackathon Experience in Helsinki! 🚀 🇫🇮 In November, I had the chance to attend Junction 2024, one of the most exciting and collaborative hackathons in Europe. It was an incredible experience to meet so many talented developers, UX/UI designers, and other creative professionals from different backgrounds—all working together with innovation at the forefront. Our team chose to tackle a challenge from Sitra (The Finnish Innovation Fund), with the goal: 💡 "Let’s make Finland the world leader in digital democracy." We worked on building a digital platform to help Finnish citizens propose and discuss important issues affecting their communities—whether at the local level (schools, neighborhoods, apartment buildings) or larger concerns like city- and national-wide problems. Our solution allows: ✅ Citizens to identify and vote on pressing community issues. ✅ Discussions and idea-sharing moderated by both AI and human oversight. ✅ Citizens to propose solutions and vote after meaningful conversations, encouraging decision-makers to act. After three days of intense brainstorming, building, and collaborating (and very little sleep), we created something that combined technology, democracy, and problem-solving. In the public voting, we secured 3rd place among the challenge candidates and placed 22nd out of all the ~200 competing teams. 🏆 A big thank to Sitra, the Junction 2024 team, and everyone involved for making this event such a memorable experience. Let me be honest with you , the past few weeks have been a test of resilience for my startup team 😫 We recently launched the beta version of our new app Pikelo 🚀 and let's just say, the bug reports came in like a flood! Shoutout to my amazing teammate, Ben Mukanirwa, for the heroic debugging efforts! But amidst the late nights and troubleshooting sessions, here's what kept us going: Adaptability: We pivoted our approach based on user feedback, constantly iterating and improving the user experience. Collaboration: We leaned on each other's strengths, with Steven De Koffi and I strategizing new solutions and Mahamadou Kaba fine-tuning our AI features. Positive Mindset: We focused on the learnings, celebrating each bug fix and improvement as a step towards a better product. The road to success is rarely smooth, but it's the challenges that truly test our mettle. Your worst critic is always the one inside your head. If you have an awesome idea, don’t be put off by that annoying naysayer. List the ifs and buts and deal with each separately, rationally, methodically. In 2017, we’d just come up with a great new way to approach app development for large enterprises. We had no details yet but we decided to present it to clients anyway. At a two day conference. Together in one room. My critic was yelling two things at me: - you can’t present a loose idea to clients - you can’t throw a conference But with a great team on my side I decided to silence the critic and just get on with it. We threw our inaugural two day conference in wine country for multiple clients, their +1s and startups presenting amazing ideas to mix things up. To top it off our idea was embraced by all and workshopped by everyone too. That idea is now an industry trend. The conference became an annual gathering that gets stronger each year.
