🌍 Transforming Urban Heating Cities for a Sustainable Future The heating and cooling sector in Europe is a significant source of CO2 emissions and air pollution, with 70% of heat production still relying on fossil fuels. This compromises the health of European citizens and hinders our climate targets. However, it doesn’t have to be this way! Cities across Europe are leading the charge in detoxing their heating systems by shifting towards cleaner, more modern, and sustainable solutions. From Munich’s comprehensive heat mapping and planning to Silkeborg’s expansive solar district heating system and Marseille’s innovative use of seawater and excess heat, these cities are setting inspiring examples. Discover cities' innovative steps to detox their heat with the Covenant of Mayors - Europe's new map. Let’s work together for healthier communities, stronger economies, and a climate-neutral future. 🌱 🔍 Check out the map to see how cities are making a difference! 📊 https://lnkd.in/eyG_33fv #EUSmartCities

🌍 Reflecting on #SCEWC24: A Call for Resilient Cities 🌍 RSS-Hydro had the incredible opportunity to attend the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 in #Barcelona, where over 25,000 attendees from 130 countries gathered to discuss the future of urban innovation. This year’s theme, “Live Better,” resonated deeply as we explored solutions to make our cities safer and more resilient. ‼️One of the most pressing topics was the need for cities to protect people and assets from natural hazards. With climate change intensifying the frequency and severity of events like floods, wildfires, and droughts, urban resilience has never been more critical 🌊 As we move forward, it’s essential for cities to adopt effective solutions to safeguard our communities and infrastructure. 🫂Let’s continue to collaborate, innovate, and invest together in resilient urban planning to ensure a secure future for all. #UrbanResilience #SmartCities #ClimateChange #Innovation #DigitalTwin Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Luxinnovation GIE LuXembourg - Let's Make It Happen Patricia Fernández Ferrero Paolo Tamagnone, PhD

🌍 New Research from Our Team! 🌆 We're excited to share our latest publication on the importance of harmonized data for urban transport in Europe. With over 70% of Europeans living in cities, addressing the environmental impacts of urban planning and transportation is crucial: -> Urban mobility is responsible for 40% of road transport CO2 emissions and up to 70% of other pollutants from transport. ->Lack of harmonized passenger transport data across European cities hinders coordinated climate and health efforts. ->Fragmented data impedes progress monitoring and infrastructure planning. Our workshop, part of the UBDPolicy and CATALYSE projects by Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), brought together experts to explore solutions for healthy, sustainable urban transportation. 🔗 Read the full article: https://rb.gy/1uyzjk #UrbanMobility #SustainableCities #PublicHealth #Research #ClimateAction #DataScience
