Continuously impressed by CBRE's sustainability platform. The recent acquisition of NRG Energy further differentiates and strategically expands their offering to clients who are struggling to answer the question: how do I achieve my net sustainability goals? This episode of the Weekly Take hosted Spencer Levy featured Miro Sutton and Robert Bernard. One quote that really stood out to me was: "The question that we have every day that we wake up, which is, how do we simplify complexity to accelerate sustainability for our clients? And how do we do that in a way that is fiscally responsible and can actually create competitive advantage for our clients globally?” This hits on two questions that I think are often overlooked or lost in the sustainability conversation: -how do we make it pencil (economics)? -how do we use it to our competitive advantage? Give it a listen. https://lnkd.in/eBYD_vka

Ernst & Young in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty), welcomes everyone to the Sarawak Sustainability Insights (SSI) 2024. This landmark event aims to bring together distinguished delegates from Sarawak and Federal ministries, government agencies, industry leaders, financial institutions, and international dignitaries. A highlight of the event will be the syndication of the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint planned for launch in 2025, a comprehensive roadmap that outlines Sarawak’s strategic priorities and initiatives for securing a sustainable, low-carbon future. One of the primary objectives of Sarawak Sustainability Insights 2024 is to foster dialogue by providing a platform for stakeholders from various sectors to collaborate and accelerate sustainability initiatives in Sarawak. The event is also a means to syndicate the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint by collecting feedback from key stakeholders to shape the future of sustainability efforts in the state. The event will showcase Sarawak’s journey toward a sustainable future focusing on; energy; transport infrastructure including road, rail and maritime; and urban greening. The Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, will deliver the keynote address, outlining Sarawak’s commitment to becoming a regional hub for renewable energy and its vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. His address will highlight Sarawak’s pioneering role in the renewable energy front, with an emphasis on hybrid solutions, environmental conservation, carbon capture, utilisation and storage, and socioeconomic development alongside the net-zero vision. “Together with our renewable energy initiatives, hybrid solutions underscore our unwavering commitment to sustainable development and a low-carbon future. Sarawak is continuously advancing not just its clean energy strategy, but also other aspects of the E-S-G components to encompass a wholistic approach, ensuring that we remain a leader in sustainability, not only in ASEAN but globally” said the Premier of Sarawak. Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood, Professor and Director of Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, a speaker at SSI 2024 commented, “the discussion on climate change mitigation efforts, renewable energy solutions and environmental sustainability sometimes do not place equal emphasis on social wellbeing and inclusivity with regards to our shared sustainable future. So our discussion on this during SSI 2024 would be critical”. The event will conclude with closing remarks by YAB Dato Seri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, reaffirming the federal government’s support for Sarawak’s sustainability ambitions. Members of the public are invited to the event and free registration can be done onsite.
