We've spent the last few days alongside Galliford Try at Highways UK, and it’s been a great experience discussing how modern #technology is transforming the management of major #infrastructure projects. These conversations highlighted the critical role that innovative approaches play in tackling some of the UK's most complex projects. A prime example of Galliford Try's forward-thinking approach is their work on upgrading a key section of the A303. This £135 million project, which aims to improve road safety and ease congestion for 23,500 daily users, demonstrates how modern solutions are being implemented to deliver more efficient and sustainable infrastructure. Faced with the challenge of managing schedules from multiple subcontractors and internal teams, Galliford Try adopted our Schedule Health tool to automate and standardise #scheduleintegrity. 🚧 The Results? - Time-consuming manual processes reduced from hours to minutes. - Improved accuracy and consistency across all project schedules, both internal and subcontractor schedules. - Enhanced decision-making through reliable data insights. This transformation has enabled Galliford Try to focus on high-value tasks, keeping the project on track for Winter 2024/2025 completion. It was great to be part of this roundtable discussion. Check it out in the Highways Magazine. Sharing ideas about the common problems with maintenance but how to approach this to reduce cost and carbon. Really good to hear so many views from client and contractors and the key problem areas. #highways #decarbonisation
The trusted voice of the UK's highways industry on road surface treatment solutions - we aim to raise awareness of the range & benefits of surface treatments & promote work force competence & safe working practices.
Thank you to Highways Magazine for sharing the output of our roundtable, sponsored by member organisation Roadtechs, where we discussed the barriers to the implementation of surface treatments and how we can overcome them. We had a good mix of industry professionals around the table and a good, open and honest conversation. AC Transit’s Draft Final Realign Plan will retain the current routes for Lines 6, 51A, and 51B, reversing earlier proposals to modify these high-ridership lines. This decision follows strong public opposition to the changes proposed in the May 2024 plan. https://lnkd.in/g8bXwhJF #ACTransit #PublicTransit #BayAreaTransit

Unbelievable. This should be a daily reminder that the delivery model for big projects is broken and no amount of money will fix it, instead the process, agencies, etc have to be totally redesigned. Step 1 should be to see who in the world gets this right (many others do). Step 2 is to map their process Step 3 is to abandon all the current players install this new process. Step 4 is to do it now. We need way more public transit - and much faster than the disabled current Metrolinx/TTC/IO,Contractor Consortium, etc can deliver. Wholesale change needed. Is anyone as upset as I am?

I didn’t realize that 60% of Americans support the construction of HSR. This bi-partisan support is a great opportunity to push elected officials to take a more assertive, pro-active position re: HSR. Ultimately, if electeds are embarrassed by our current output, they should direct and empower US DOT. A great first, incremental step, would be to ramp up passenger rail electrification like Caltrain. The beauty of electrification is that it provides time competitive service versus automobiles over distances people with automobiles would opt for driving, say, under 200 miles. https://lnkd.in/eUfFqUnb

Here's an outline of the MTA projects that would've been funded in part due to congestion pricing. This includes: -Accessibility improvements for 30+ stations -Signal modernization -Bus electrification -Phase two of the 2nd Avenue subway And so, so much more. These are such necessary improvements to enhance the quality of transit across the region, and are of benefit to everyone. #urbanplanning #publictransport #congestionpricing

FINANCIAL COST OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEMS... Cable-car systems are relatively cheap and quick to construct. Low construction costs make public sector capital borrowing feasible. The following image depicts the costs per kilometre, which are favourable for cable cars comparing with BRT and rail systems. However, Cable car has a technical limitation to carry massive volume of passengers.
