Ever heard about YPR or Harmonic Drives? Don't worry, here is a short introduction to YPR with examples 😉 Yaw, Pitch, and Roll (YPR) are fundamental terms used in robotics, aerospace, and automobiles. #Yaw - refers to horizontal movement in an arch from side to side (left to right or vice versa). example - turning your head from left to right. #Pitch - means vertical movement in an arch from top to bottom or vice versa. example - nodding your head up and down. #Roll - involves motion in an arch about an axis. example - leaning your head towards one shoulder and then the other. Through this post, I am excited to share a significant milestone in the development of my robotic manipulator i.e the successful implementation of the Harmonic Drive in the pitch joint of the end effector. This innovative drive can deliver an impressive output torque of over 12Nm with an input torque of just 1Nm, provided by a precision encoder DC servo.
