Am I shocked? No. Surprised? Yes. The Christian Dior Handbag Scandal is more than likely the tip of the iceberg for luxury fashion brands. The factory used to produce certain pieces for the Iconic French House was a sweatshop in Italy using illegal workers. A Dior handbag produced at 57 euros, sold for 2750 euros. That is a HECK OF A MARKUP! The luxury brands have evolved into "Glorified ZARAS" in some ways. Luxury Brand Chasers think there is a special purchase at a boutique with over 200 global locations. HA!
I have always championed small labels that are closer to their supply chains. In many cases their collections are of equal or better quality than the global powerhouses. "Style is NEVER about a brand."
