Woops! when a utility pole installation exercise unexpectedly turns into a cable extraction. 🫣 Even if you are replacing or repairing poles, signs or other pre existing ground mounted assets make sure that you check for existing underground network in close proximity to prevent damage. #damageprevention #strikeavoidance #utilitysafety #digsafe #worksafe #utilitylocating #utilitysurvey #getplans #beforeyoudig

Discharge lines are good coming out of the house with a 1.5" or 2" diameter. They are NOT good going underground that way. Smaller pipes raise your chances of the discharge line freezing in the winter. Best practice is to have an air gap or freeze guard, and transition that pipe into a 4" diameter pipe that is then buried underground to a termination point. #BasementWaterproofing #NoOneSizeFitsAll #WinterIsComing https://lnkd.in/g3Au5sYm

🔍 "𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭" - 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐧 Today reminded us why persistence in the field is everything. We started at a pump house with a seemingly perfect setup on a 9.05-inch water line, but sometimes things aren't what they seem! When we discovered a hidden static mixer blocking our signals, did we pack up? Not a chance. A few blocks' walk and some creative thinking later, we found the sweet spot at the tank station. The result? Crystal clear measurements and a customer who's so impressed they're already asking about two more installations. Key takeaway: In field service, Plan A doesn't always work - but that's exactly why we bring Plans B through Z! Never let an obstacle be the end of your story. #WaterManagement #TechnologySolutions #EngineeringExcellence

In the realm of Utility installations, unexpected events are unfortunately quite frequent; however, they consistently provide valuable lessons. Here, we can see a routine utility pole installation unexpectedly evolving into a cable extraction mission! This situation reminded us of the importance of adaptability and problem-solving in our field. When the unexpected happens, it's crucial to stay calm, assess the situation, and implement your strategic plan. Here are a few key takeaways from an experience such as this: 👉 Preparation is Key: Always ensure thorough site assessments and planning before beginning any installation. 👉Stay Informed: Understanding the existing underground infrastructure, by using free resources such as the LSBUD portal, can prevent Utility strike surprises and keep projects on track. 👉Team Collaboration: Foster an environment where team members can communicate openly and contribute solutions. 👉Continuous Learning: Use each challenge as an opportunity to refine processes and improve future outcomes. As we navigate the complexities of utility work, it's these experiences that enhance our skills and commitment to safer digging. 🧩 For those in the industry, how do you handle unexpected challenges during installations? We'd love to hear your insights! #UtilityInstallation #ProblemSolving #Teamwork #Adaptability #Infrastructure #Safedigging #healthandsafety #DIY #Gardenprojects #groundworks #construction #contractors

You’d think after 80 years when we turned on parts of the old German venting system there would be a noise, a puff of smoke or something. In fact, it switched on like it was switched off yesterday rather than almost 80 years ago! The idea is to move airflow from parts of the Tunnels which have no natural flow to maintain the environment. Now we could have used modern pipes and done it that way, but why wouldn’t we use the infrastructure and pipework already there to keep these Tunnels as real as we possibly can? Now inevitably we did have to use some new pipes, around 20%, but the rest were put there by the Germans and the slave workers in the Tunnels. And this is just the first phase of this project, so keep watching! #jerseywartunnels #preservation
