Here are a few simple things each of us can do to be part of the Biodiversity Plan for Life on Earth: 1. Add local foods to your diet. 2. Reduce your consumption of meat and fish - this reduces pressure on natural resources. 3. Consume fruit and vegetables in season. 4. Reduce waste by shopping sensibly. 5. Compost food waste. 6. Support and promote ecological tourism. 7. Explore close to home - your next adventure does not have to leave a giant carbon footprint. 🌱 Happy World Soil Day! 🌱 Did you know that 95% of the food we eat depends on healthy soil? Soil isn’t just dirt—it’s a living, breathing ecosystem that sustains life on Earth. But it’s under threat. 🌍 This year’s theme, “Soils: Where Food Begins,” reminds us how vital soil is for food, water, biodiversity, and even climate stability. 🌾💧 At BioGro, we’re proud to support over 850 organic producers across New Zealand who are leading the way in protecting and enhancing soil health through sustainable practices like composting, crop rotation, and cover cropping. 🌿 This World Soil Day, let’s honor the foundation of life: 🌱 Compost your food waste. 🌱 Choose organic products. 🌱 Advocate for soil conservation. Together, we can grow a healthier, greener future—starting from the ground up. 🌎💚 #biogro #worldsoilday #unday #organic #soilhealth #environment #newzealand #sustainability #biodiversity #nzbusiness

🌍🐾 Think Before You Consume: Protect Our Planet’s Biodiversity! 🌱🍽️ Every choice we make at the table affects the world around us. Unsustainable consumption patterns—like wasting food—aren’t just bad for our wallets; they contribute to the loss of biodiversity. 🌿🐝 Here’s how: When food is wasted, the resources used to produce it—like water, land, and energy—are wasted too. 🛤️💧 The need for ever-increasing food production drives deforestation, habitat destruction, and pollution, threatening countless species. 🌳🐾 💡 What can we do? Always have a Plan B! Plan for leftovers to avoid throwing food away. Use them to whip up something new and delicious! 🍲✨ Adjust how much you cook and buy only what you need. Ordering fewer ingredients saves money and reduces demand on ecosystems. 🛒🌍 By making mindful choices about food, we can help preserve the delicate balance of life on Earth while also creating a more sustainable future. Every small step adds up! 🌎💚 #Circulargrassroots #Solikyl #ReduceFoodWaste #LookSmellTaste #FoodForThought #leksaksbiblioteket #folkkök #gratisbutiken #cykelkök

Compost - Nature's Climate Champion! That's the theme for International Compost Awareness Week this year, and we couldn't agree more. Healthy soil is the foundation for everything we do - when soil is healthy, so are plants. When plants are healthy, so are the people and animals that eat them. When people are healthy, they thrive. And when the planet is healthy, so are all of us who depend on it. We use a LOT of compost on our farm. This (along with cover cropping) is a key way we nurture our soil. Our efforts are paid off with nutrient dense food and terrific flavour! Additionally, using compost keeps organic waste out of landfills, and contributes to water conservation and quality. Win-win! Today we celebrate #EarthDay and we want to take a moment to highlight the environmental challenges we will have to overcome in the coming years to protect our planet and build resilient agroecosystems in a sustainable way. Water and air pollution, reduction of biodiversity and land degradation are just some examples coming to mind when thinking about the current situation. At Hello Nature we work to reduce our environmental impact, but we also want to provide solutions to help farmers and other actors in the agri-food supply chain produce and deliver food sustainably. Our biostimulant products are designed to improve nutrient use efficiency, our organic fertilizers are set to restore fertility in poor and degraded soils, our microbial range is a key to protect and enhance soil biodiversity. Earth and its sustainable future are at the heart of our phylosophy, and we work for it every day.
