🌟 Mentorship Mondays 🌟 When I started my journey as the first engineer in my family, I had no roadmap—just a dream and determination to make it happen. By 22, I was leading projects at Apple, a milestone that felt equal parts surreal and fulfilling. But here’s the truth: no one achieves success alone. Mentorship has been a game-changer in my career and life. Whether it’s guiding over 100 students toward internships and dream roles or receiving invaluable advice from those ahead of me (I could list over 20 people who have poured into me), mentorship has proven to be a cycle of growth, giving, and learning. Here are three key lessons mentorship has taught me: 1️⃣ Ask the Right Questions: The best mentors don’t just give answers—they guide you to think critically and explore solutions. 2️⃣ Representation Matters: Seeing someone who “looks like you” in a space you aspire to be can redefine what feels possible. 3️⃣ Give Back as You Climb: True success is creating opportunities for others to rise alongside you. Now it’s your turn: 💡 What’s the most impactful advice a mentor has ever given you? 💡 How do you support or uplift others in your community or industry? Let’s keep breaking barriers—together. 💪🏾🚀 #MentorshipMondays #BreakingBarriers #CareerGrowth #Apple #BlackPM #NSBE

Last month, during my 1:1 with my manager, we had a one hour conversation on the importance of mentorship and coaching. We talked about how with a mentor you can get advice from someone who is in your same field and has achieved the goals that you have set for yourself. Friends and family are great support, but sometimes, you need to hear from someone who has been through it. I have had many unofficial mentors throughout my academic and professional career - my thesis supervisor, a lot of my ex managers and mentors. In general, I always valued having role models and having someone that I felt comfortable enough to share my life goals with and take guidance from. Recently, I have decided to get my first official mentor. This is also something I am extremely grateful to Google for: the possibility to access hundreds of professionals that are open and available to give you some of their time to help you achieve your career goals. I am very excited to start with my first mentor and to report back on my experienced in a few months. My advice to you is to try in any way to consistently get mentorship: whether you are at university, trying to get an internship, you just started working or are striving to get promoted, find someone who can guide you - someone who has been through it, someone that you can run your ideas with and someone who can support you and hold you accountable. Here are some associations to check out if you want to find a mentor: 1. Lead The Future Mentorship - for anyone in Science and Engineering 2. Nova - community with 20k+ people living in 95 countries 3. Mentors4u - biggest mentorship program in Europe Do you already have a mentor? How have they helped you? #lifeatgoogle #newgrad #earlycareer [the picture is with the view from the beautiful San Francisco Google office] ---------- Hey! I am Federica, I am 23 years old and 8 months ago, I began my career with my dream job at Google. Now I want to share my experience and my tips with all the new grads that are interested in breaking into tech. Don't miss my content, follow me to remain up to date 🚀

"This is just unbelievable." "You mean you actually did that?" "How did I hire such an incompetent Product Manager?" Eunice's voice echoed down the hallway. As she screamed at the new PM who stood in awe. Judith was a well TRAINED PM but she is new in practice. Even experts make mistakes. And the distance between what is taught in class and reality is always wide😄 Training alone doesn't cut it. Practice makes perfect. In this new week, practice what you have learnt. Get your hands dirty with tools needed to execute your tasks. Certifications may land you that job but your knowledge of tools will keep you on the job. Have a productive week ahead fam💜 P.S.: If you are a techie, join Rexversity upcoming internship to hone those skills. Hiring anyone? Promoting anyone? Ask these two questions: 1. Tell me about the major decisions and sacrifices you have made to get to this opportunity. 2. Tell me about the problems you have solved personally and the framework, new learning or strategies you implemented to solve them. This will give you a great idea of their mindset and how they will work in your school.
