🌟 JumpStart Demo Day: Results That Inspire! 🌟 On January 17, 2025, the grand JumpStart Demo Day took place in Astana, organized with the support of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission. This day marked the culmination of two months of hard work by 20 talented women determined to change the world through social projects! 💪 📌 What was achieved during the program: Participants received more than 180 hours of individual sessions with trackers and attended 15 masterclasses led by experts on topics like ESG, artificial intelligence, finance, public speaking, and more. Topics covered included market research, MVP creation, mindfulness, and innovations in social projects. 83% of participants joined an incubator for the first time, while 52% had prior experience in business creation. The average participant age was 28. 💡 Participants' achievements: During the incubator, participants attracted more than 43 million tenge in investments. Several major contracts were signed, including an agreement for 1 million tenge with the company "Romantik." Five projects received grants, including a 5-million-tenge grant from the government. 🏆 Demo Day Awards: Best Pitch – Sabina Zhakienova with her project Alem Connect, winning a laptop from the sponsor. Best Social Project – Dinorakhon Bakhriyeva with her project Nautilus Assistant, receiving a grant of 1 million tenge to create a brand book. Audience Favorite – Zhansaya Kistaubayeva with her project Qadam Pro, focused on inclusion and rehabilitation for children with special needs. ✨ Emotions and feedback: For many participants, the program was not just a launchpad for their projects but also an opportunity to gain confidence, inspiration, and support from like-minded individuals. 💬 “JumpStart gave me not only knowledge but also confidence that my project can truly change people’s lives!” – shared one participant. JumpStart is more than just an incubator. It’s an ecosystem that creates a space for the sustainable development of social initiatives. Happy Friday, everyone! 🌟 Let's dive into a story that’s close to my heart and, I believe, resonates with many of you. In my five years of experience in issuers of #ImpactNetworks, I've noticed a recurring issue: CEOs making unilateral decisions, networks filled with politics and top-down decisions, inaccessibility, and the worst - encouraging people to speak up only to meet them with silence. Does this sound familiar? (Share your experience in the comments!) These concerns were front and centre during the #NetworkFestival, a global virtual festival hosted by Fito Network 🧩. In this specific Learning Series, #FitoNetwork, in collaboration with Catalyst 2030, with senior network weavers/coordinators, and over 50 network practitioners, funders, & coordinators worldwide, we explored practices for collaborative impact and steps to build resilient networks for #socialinnovation in an ever-changing world. We had the honour of learning, & grasping juicy insights from experts like Nick, Co-Founder of ChangemakerXchange, Arielle, Chief Convener of Pollinate Impact, Alberto, Global Development Director of Impact Hub Network, and Brendon, Co-Founder of Fito Network 🧩. They shared authentic success stories, best practices, challenges, and their experiences in building social innovation network models that promote cross-pollination of ideas/learning, and foster professional relationships for trust-based cross-border collaborations. To summarize the whole session, one of the key cross-cutting takeaways was the importance of a #networkmindsetshift that prioritizes purpose and mission over the organization itself. Purpose is what draws people in, encouraging them to contribute their time and energy beyond their organizations and institutions, right? (Let me know your thoughts in the comments!). In our traditional system, organizations often see themselves at the centre, with stakeholders around them. However, with a network mindset shift, we see ourselves as part of an interconnected system of actors and organizations, united by a shared purpose and mission. This shift strengthens human connections, sparks co-creation, and inspires cross-border collaborations plus cross-pollination of ideas which are key ingredients to tackle pressing global issues which are rooted locally. What’s next for social innovation labs? How do they drive systems change and address complex challenges? The Future of Labs Final Report explores these questions, capturing key learnings from the 2024 Future of Labs convening. This gathering brought together practitioners from across the field to explore critical topics: defining what labs are, how they contribute to social change, what the future holds and how we can evolve as practitioners to strengthen the ecosystem. Produced in collaboration with Action Lab and a diverse group of experienced social innovation practitioners, the Report offers recommendations, next steps and questions to consider as we look ahead to the next ten years of social innovation labs. Why does this matter? All sectors are under immense stress, leaders are dealing with polarization, transitions, and a tendency to rely on solutions when addressing complex challenges.
