In the few weeks, we have been visiting various farms in Akwa Ibom to get information about their challenges in the agriculture industry and find possible solutions to them. This was one farm we visited; a cucumber and maize farm. Aside logistics of produce, the logistics of Agro-based products like fertilizers, herbicides etc has also been a challenge. Another challenge has been finding the wholesalers for different produce. This is why TramsFarms has come to stay. TramsFarms is a marketplace that connects farmers to wholesalers while offering logistics of these agricultural products. Tag a farm/farmer you know. #tramsfarms #foodsecurity #foodsafety #agritech #agriculture #agricultureinnigeria #logistics

According to the study, the Klamath Project and off-project areas such as the Sprague and Wood River Valleys generate $367.8 million in annual agricultural production value during a full water year, as well as over 3,000 jobs. This includes $261.7 million in crop production and $106 million in livestock production, highlighting the region’s strong dependence on irrigated agriculture. “Agriculture in the Upper Klamath Basin is the backbone of the region,” said Tracey Liskey, KWUA Board President. “Without a full supply of water, the entire basin is affected, not just the farmers. The lack of water impacts everyone from local businesses that rely on agricultural trade to consumers who depend on the food products we produce.” A reduction in project water supply leads to significant losses, and a 34% reduction in water supply could lead to a $75.6 million loss in agricultural output, jeopardizing 880 jobs and $48.2 million in labor income. In Nigeria’s Kaduna state, Haruna Bala became motivated to adopt modern farming techniques after seeing his younger brother’s #success. Without direct training, Haruna invested in quality tomato seeds 🌱, trellising materials, and other inputs during the dry season. Despite facing an early pest challenge, he managed his tomato🍅 field effectively and now regrets not planting more. “I have never seen a farming method this rewarding,” Haruna proudly stated. “The fruits are firm, and traders are already pricing the whole farm.” Just as his brother’s success spurred him to adopt new ways of growing vegetables, Haruna’s own success has inspired over 20 farmers 👨🌾 in the community to follow suit. Haruna’s younger brother received intensive training in effective and sustainable vegetable production from East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation under the Transforming Nigeria’s Vegetable Markets project (2019-2024), which was co-funded by the SDG Partnership Facility, a grant program of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs managed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency . The impact of this recently completed project continues to grow. Like Haruna, more and more farmers are seeing firsthand the impressive results of improved horticultural practice in their #communities and are replicating these techniques on their own farms for higher yields and better profits. Five years after the project began, advanced farming knowledge is spreading organically from farmer to farmer, with no end in sight. #Nigeria #Farmers #YoungFarmers #EWS #KnowledgeTransfer #Smallholderfarmers
