State-owned GAIL (India) Limited plans to invest Indian rupee (Rs) 600 billion ($7.2 billion) to build an #ethane #cracker and its #derivative plants in Madhya Pradesh. The cracker will have a 1.5 million tonne/year capacity and will be set up at Ashta in the Sehore district of the state in central India, GAIL said in a regulatory disclosure to the Bombay Stock Exchange Limited (BSE) on 10 June. GAIL did not provide product or capacity details of the #ethylene derivatives it plans to produce at the complex. “Around 800 hectares of land shall be provided by the MP [Madhya Pradesh] Industrial Development Corporation, for which the state government has already initiated the process,” GAIL said. Project construction is expected to begin by February 2025, with commercial production likely in the financial year ending March 2031, it added. GAIL (India) Limited and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) today joined hands to optimise the operations of RRVUNL’s gas-based power plants in Rajasthan. A Non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this was signed here in the presence of Shri Hiralal Nagar, Hon’ble Energy Minister, Rajasthan and Shri Alok, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Government of Rajasthan. Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL and Shri Rajeev Kumar Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL were present during the MoU signing ceremony. The MoU was signed by Shri Devendra Shringi, Chairman and Managing Director of RRVUNL and Shri Sumit Kishore, Executive Director (Business Development and Exploration & Production), GAIL. With an intent of optimising the operations of gas-based power plants in Rajasthan, RRVUNL and GAIL shall explore the possibility of transferring RRVUNL’s gas-based power plant located in Dholpur and Ramgarh, Rajasthan to a proposed Joint Venture Company (JVC) between GAIL & RRVUNL. Further, both the parties will work together towards setting up of around 1,000 MW of solar and wind projects in suitable land parcels, thus creating an opportunity for Round the Clock (RTC) power. Detailed due diligence / feasibility studies for each project shall be carried out for establishing techno-commercial viability of the projects before forming JVC. GAIL through its natural gas pipeline network of around 1,090 kms supplies gas to industrial customers in the catchment area of Bhiwadi, Neemrana, Khuskhera, Kota, Jaisalmer and Chittorgarh region in Rajasthan including Chambal Fertilizers and Shriram Fertilizers. GAIL also supplies gas to 19 Authorized City Gas Distribution entities in Kota, Bhilwara, Bhiwadi, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur and various other districts of Rajasthan to residential, commercial, small industrial and transport sector for promoting green and clean energy. GAIL owns and operates 1,427 kms long Jamnagar - Loni LPG pipeline. Major portion of LPG pipeline (694 kms) is operational in Rajasthan from Abu Road to Alwar. GAIL is also contributing to Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme in Rajasthan by providing polymers for manufacturing HDPE pipes, ensuring tap water supply to every rural household. (Rejupev 1st Trial at MSL 14000 feet) Rejupev (Bio Oil) - It is developed by India’s oldest and premier road research organisation, CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI). It is beneficial in constructing high-altitude bituminous roads at low and sub-zero temperature conditions. This technology brings down the production and rolling temperature of bituminous mixes by 30 degrees Celsius to 400 degrees Celsius with negligible heat loss in the bituminous mix during transit, despite long haulage time amid snowfall. This technology's asphalt modifier is a bio-oil-based product, which significantly lowers the heating requirement of bituminous mixes besides preserving the bituminous mix temperature during transit. Significance: Rejupave' asphalt modifier in cold climatic regions will have improved long-term durability and better resistance to thermal cracking under low-temperature conditions.
