This talk begins with an overview of our recently proposed privacy-preserving solutions for speech, including anonymization approaches for both single-speaker and multi-speaker scenarios. We then apply the state-of-the-art voice anonymization technique to the original large-scale VoxCeleb2 dataset, creating SynVox2, a synthetic, privacy-friendly alternative. we evaluate SynVox2 in terms of privacy, utility, and fairness, and identify the challenges of employing synthetic data for the downstream task of speaker verification.

Reflecting on my research into video conferencing experiences during the pandemic, it's fascinating to see how many of those behaviours have persisted even as COVID-19 restrictions have eased. From professional meetings to family gatherings, video conference have become an integral part of our daily lives. Actor-Network Theory offers a unique perspective on this phenomenon, highlighting the agency of technology in shaping our social interactions. Just as my research explored the role of video conferencing tools in facilitating connections during a time of isolation, this theory reminds us that objects and technology are not merely passive instruments but active participants in our networks. #actornetworktheory
