Our fearless leader was at it again - can’t keep her from supporting a wonderful charity AND a microphone. Olivia was invited to be the Emcee at this years ARMHC gala and had a wonderful time bringing the event to life and seeing magic happen as the room raised over $650,000!

For years, I have had the honor of being a keynote speaker or emcee for organizations, whether they be large corporations or charities. So, from my vantage point “on stage,” I have also seen firsthand what it takes to create a great event. Here are 6 things you need to keep in mind when planning yours: https://lnkd.in/eZFJebMd

How would you compare spending 760 million to restore a historic church to saving 50,000 lives? How would you compare the arson of such a church to killing 50,000 people? I have an opinion, but I also find this topic endlessly interesting.
Should we really worry about how much good our donations do? According to a recent New York Times piece, maybe not. I disagree. So does Dylan Matthews, and in my latest post on Bold Reasoning, I explain why. You can read “Why charity should be optimized” here: https://lnkd.in/g2AVS3MT

Core funding for charities: Is it as elusive as we think? Thought this was a good article for #SmallCharityWeek by Reina Edmiston about funding. It covers: Why core funding matters The challenge of securing core funding How to appeal to grantmakers Where to find core funding opportunities Definitely worth a read if you're reviewing your funding model and where you look for income. https://lnkd.in/ekc4KDTW

Near to 10,000 people in our community (9946, to be precise) have taken a pledge to donate a portion of their income to effective charities. That includes: 🔸 the 10% Pledge, 🔹 the Trial Pledge, and the Further Pledge. Emma took a 6-month trial pledge last year, and we're so pleased that it gave her the confidence to commit to giving 10% of her income until she retires! We recently updated our webpage about the Trial Pledge – you can learn more about how this flexible option can give you the evidence that donating effectively, consistently, and generously is not only plausible but incredibly rewarding. 📢 The Power of a Simple "Thank You" ✨️ In the world of charity and fundraising, there’s one lesson I emphasise to my team above all others: 'Never underestimate the importance of thanking our donors.' Donors are more than financial supporters—they're part of our community, united by a shared belief in our mission. When they give to us, they’re offering their trust, their hard-earned pennies, and their hope that we will turn their generosity into meaningful impact. But what happens if we don't acknowledge that? If their gift disappears into a black void of silence? The connection weakens - probably disappears. A genuine, heartfelt 'thank you' changes everything. It's not just good manners—it's transformative. When we thank our donors, we: Reinforce the relationship: They see themselves as part of our community, not just a source of funds. Highlight their impact: They know their support isn’t just noticed but is making a real difference. Encourage future giving: In my experience, I’ve seen thank-yous spark new donations—proof that appreciation goes a long way. This isn't just about retaining donors; it's about building champions for our cause. A thank-you is as powerful as an ask, and it ensures our supporters feel valued, connected, and inspired. When we thank donors, we’re not just closing the loop—we’re strengthening the bond that keeps our mission alive. To all our wonderful supporters - THANK YOU. You’re the heart of what we do and make everything that we do possible. #Fundraising #DonorRelations #Gratitude #CharityLeadership
