Do you know what all results should pass when a car performs a full vehicle frontal crash test in USA Regulations?!! For a full vehicle crash analysis according to FMVSS 208, the following results are typically output and checked: 🌟Accelerations: - Vehicle CG (center of gravity) acceleration - Occupant head, chest, and pelvis accelerations 🌟Intrusion and deformation: - Vehicle front end intrusion - Dashboard and steering column displacement - Door and roof deformation 🌟 Occupant kinematics: - Head, neck, and body angles - Occupant displacement and rotation 🌟 Restraint system performance: - Seatbelt loads and elongation - Airbag deployment time and pressure - Airbag interaction with occupants 🌟 Injury criteria: - HIC (Head Injury Criterion) - Chest acceleration and compression - Femur force and moment - Neck force and moment 🌟 Vehicle structural performance: - Front end crush and deformation - Vehicle stiffness and energy absorption 🌟Barrier interaction: - Barrier force and displacement - Barrier penetration and deformation 🌟 Energy absorption: - Vehicle energy absorption - Barrier energy absorption 🌟 Simulation validation: - Comparison to physical test data (if available) - Verification of simulation accuracy These results are checked against the FMVSS 208 requirements, which include: - HIC ≤ 1000 - Chest acceleration ≤ 60 g - Femur force ≤ 10 kN - Neck force ≤ 4 kN - Neck moment ≤ 57 Nm - Vehicle front end intrusion ≤ 20 inches Note that additional results and checks may be required depending on the specific test conditions and vehicle configuration. In addition to crash testing, auto manufacturers also conduct a variety of pedestrian safety tests. Legforms and headforms with embedded DTS SLICE NANO data acquisition systems are launched into front bumpers and hoods/bonnets to represent a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. The data is used to advance vehicle designs, safety ratings and global regulations. Dual-Lens Side View Coverage Monitoring Dual-lens design of the long arm camera provides comprehensive surveillance coverage. The CAM1 camera is specifically designed to monitor the side and rear areas of the truck, ensuring that the driver is able to see into the far rear side of the vehicle, thus reducing blind spots and improving safety when changing lanes and reversing. 60 millimeters might not seem like much – but can mean everything in the event of a side crash. For its Pre-Crash Dual Stage Side Airbag, ZF LIFETEC offers car manufacturers the option to better utilize existing vehicle pre-crash sensors for side protection. If the car detects an incoming, unavoidable collision, the first stage of the Dual Stage SAB is triggered, and its first air cushion pushes the occupants away from the doors before the impact. This can create up to 60 mm of space, which can then be filled by the airbag’s second cushion to achieve improved occupant protection.
