CHEESE TASTING in Slovenia, Soča Valley Tolmin, October 2024 - For a Croatian agency and their clients, we organized a local cheese-tasting experience in Tolmin. Cheese making in the Soča Valley has a rich history that dates back centuries, when local farmers began producing Swiss-style full-fat cheese in the mountain pastures where cattle were gathered for the summer season. This traditional cheese, known as Tolminc, is still crafted in the same #mountain pastures today. Additionally, the northern part of the valley is renowned for its goat cheese, made from the endemic Drežniška goats and other local goat varieties. ➡ If you intend to visit Soča in Slovenia valley contact us for your offer. 📸 Photo: Some cheeses from degustation produced in local dairy Mlekarna Planika #CheeseTasting #SočaValley #Europe #TolmincCheese #DrežniškaGoatCheese #SloveniaTravel #FoodExperience #CroatianAgency #GourmetTour #SlovenianCheese #MlekarnaPlanika #LocalFlavors #TraditionalCheese #SočaValleyCheese #MountainPastures #TasteSlovenia

For those who love Wines from Uruguay, April is designated "Tannat Month" with yesterday, April 14th being Tannat Day. Tannat was introduced into Uruguay in 1870 by Basque immigrants -- most likely collected from Southwest France. According to the seminar, the genetic origins are unclear but the first written record occurred in 1783 at Madiran in SW France. The grape has thick skins which provides a bulwark from humidity and contains 5-6 large seeds instead of the more standard 2-3 small seeds. And Tannat appears to be well adaptive the the various Uruguay climate and soils. Viticulture and winemaking with Tannat has evolved over the last 20 years with growers pluck leaves to allow more sunshine and green harvest up to 50% of the fruit in order to "balance leaf area and fruit weight for a crop that can achieve better ripeness". In the cellar, the grapes are cold macerated before fermentation and micro-oxygenation where oxygen is introduced into the wine in a controlled manner to help tame Tannat's tannins. Other new methods are the co-fermentation with Viognier as well as a judicial use of oak or even completely unoaked wines. . Tannat is also becoming established in the United States, particularly in Virginia where Tannat wines are a little bolder with more tannins and earthy notes. One excellent example is from Paradise Springs winery where their 2021 Tannat was awarded a Gold Medal in the latest Governor's Cup Competition. . @uruguay.wine @bodega_gimenez_mendez_uruguay @paradisespringswinery @ermutfloresuy @pisanowines @bodegaaltodelaballena @pizzornowines @bodegafamiliadeicas @bodegabouza . #thecompasscbf #monthlymondays #bevfluence #underthebevfluence #tannat #tannatwine #vawine #paradisespringswinery #uruguay #uruguaywine #virginiawine

Aussie Wine Growers Protest Against Low Prices, Dozens of wine grape growers have protested in Renmark South Australia, about the depressed grape prices being offered for the current harvest for grapes. Some growers are ripping up their vines and investing in other agriculture, eg almonds or creating grazing paddocks, some have diversified into eg organic wines and low-alcohol wines Enjoying Success requires the ability to adapt, and some are planning in preparation of the China market opening. The Australian Family Wineries Have a Huge Opportunity The Big Boys and their Chinese wine merchants/dealers have 2 billion bottles of Australian wine, pre tariffs, sitting in Chinese warehouses, They have a Big Problem! For the nimble and agile Aussie wine producer, with an understanding of the Chinese wine consumer 2024, can build a profitable and growing business in China. “ For China, without the knowledge of the societal changes, their social behaviour and collective mindset, and how you market to the Chinese wine consumer, then you will be like a grape vine without any roots” Dr John Troughton.

What Is Rhum Agricole? Rhum Agricole is a style of rum often associated with the French Caribbean islands. When translated from French it simply means “agricultural rum”. The main characteristic of this style of rum is that it is made from freshly pressed sugarcane juice, rather than molasses. This imparts a more grassy and vegetal taste to the rum Some rhum agricole have appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC), or controlled designation of origin like the AOC Martinique Rhum Agricole. An AOC label is a certification of authenticity granted by the French Government and means particular rules are in place including the region and methods of production are restricted. Rhum agricole itself is not a protected label. This means any distiller can make rum from sugarcane juice and label it as a rhum agricole. Other Sugarcane-Based Spirits It is also worth mentioning cachaça, which is another sugarcane-based spirit and the national drink of Brazil. In a basic sense, cachaça and rhum agricole are very similar. They both are made from sugarcane juice, rather than molasses. Cachaça came before rhum agricole, which is likely partially the reason France created a designation for its rum. Often, cachaça won’t be aged and can be enjoyed in a refreshing caipirinha. Each rum comes with its unique regional characteristics, including the raw materials used in its recipes, the method of distillation and the degree to which it is aged. This means there are a diversity of sugarcane spirits to explore You can choose #camikara (First Cane juice Rum of India) by Piccadilly distillery to Start Your Journey Camikara is India’s first and only pure cane rum. Setting it apart from molasses-based counterparts, we commence our journey at the origin—the sugarcane itself. With an unwavering dedication to craftsmanship, Camikara ensures that each and every drop stands as a testament to the meticulous artistry essential in the production of rum from sugar cane juice.
