Hey everyone, with the IPL season here, I was thinking about some cool ads, and I remembered Dunzo's ad from the 2022 IPL finals. It is one of my favorite ad during IPL season. In just 20 seconds, Dunzo's ad caught everyone's attention and broke the internet. They made it look like a glitch on TV and asked people to scan a QR code for convenience. It was smart, and it worked. CoinSwitch did something similar, Dunzo saw a remarkable 10x spike in traffic during the campaign period. We marketers know how expensive ad inventory during IPL. Dunzo played well with 20 secs commercial. Their marketing team knows that todays consumer will have second screen in hand. They have one of the best marketing team, and I am a big fan of their campaigns. But sadly, today I don’t see Dunzo. hey venture into quick commerce diluted its unique hyperlocal advantage, they were blindly chasing user numbers and completely neglected profitability. I feel sad for Dunzo they had so much potential. Hoping they learn from their mistakes and come back stronger. By the way what's your favorite ad campaigns from IPL? 💸 US Sports betting ad spending is down 20%. What's behind the sudden cutback? Nielsen’s latest report for the American Gaming Association shows a striking dip in 2023 marketing budgets among operators: 👉 Betting ads across TV, billboards, digital, print, and cinemas have dropped 15%. 👉 TV-specific betting ads decreased by 11%. The reason is almost obvious. As the industry stabilizes, ad spending naturally slows down. Having huge budgets at the start was important to snag market share.
