Yesterday, Right Lane Founder and Chair, Marc Levy, had the privilege of speaking at the Social Impact Summit in Sydney about the transformative potential of foundation ownership in unlocking business capital for social good. Since 2011, Right Lane has been dedicated to balancing profit and purpose. Our journey includes: - Commitment to for-benefit principles: inclusive ownership, stakeholder governance, social procurement, and transparency. - Prioritising social impact: integrating it into our strategy alongside reasonable returns. - B Corp certification: becoming the first Australian management consulting firm to achieve this. - Purpose-driven mission: helping organisations that do good, do better. - Supporting NFPs and public sector organisations: delivering a significant portion of our work to these sectors. - Pro bono and low bono engagements: committing 5% of our revenues, totalling over $1 million to date. - Annual social impact reviews: maintaining transparency and accountability. Under Marc's leadership, Right Lane was the first Australian firm to restructure into a majority foundation-owned company, inspired by the industrial foundations of Northern Europe. This World Social Enterprise Day (21 November) Social Traders is releasing the largest report on the social enterprise sector in Australia. RISE (Report on Identified Social Enterprises) includes data on almost 6,000 social enterprises, giving the latest picture on the composition and impact of Australia's social enterprise sector. The report builds on previous research and includes new information on the sector's revenue, employees and impact contributions. Social Traders has played a role in understanding Australia’s social enterprise landscape since 2010 - it's part of how we build a thriving social enterprise sector. We've made certification data publicly available for the past two years. As we combine datasets for the first time this year, our hope is that this report will empower policymakers, researchers, investors, philanthropists, intermediaries and the public to better understand and support the vital contributions of social enterprises. RISE was enabled by practitioner and academic collaborators across Australia, UK, Netherlands and Canada.
