🙄 Why do you get that random ad on LinkedIn? It might be because of the "Interests and Traits" LI has cataloged for you. Having worked in #adtech I knew this was the case, but didn't know you could see (and edit) what LI thought you'd be interested in because of your interactions and engagements. Digging through the LI settings today, I found the 20+ page list of what LI thinks I'm interested in. Most of it was accurate, but there was also a LOT of things I'm not into / can't remember when I would have ever engaged with content on that topic. (For example, 🌽 Farm Machinery and Automation, etc. I'm blaming that on reading your content, Ben Allen). 👋 Why you should ALWAYS build a 'compare table' The buyer is on a fact-finding mission. What tool will solve my need? 🚶♂️ There is much complexity and overwhelm The risk is that the buyer (or someone in the buyer's buying committee) will pick a random tool out of ignorance. Like building a community on #slack, only to find that searching past 90 days backwards in the feed (extremely likely to happen) will cost them € 6,8 per member (!) ouch! or that Facebook does not allow you to export your 80.000 email adresses in the Facebook Group you have built over the last 4 years... ouch again Some people shy away from the 'compare table'. It feels like pulling the pants down of your competitors. I think it is rather ethical. It helps people avoid mistakes. Every Buyer understands any compare table is a bit biased. BUT it helps a stressed decision-maker sort 🍏 apples and 🟠 oranges. And in a discussion of the example here, I would say If you are a software dev team - use slack rather than haaartland. Slack is a very competent team work tool. If you want something free and never intend to monetize - use Facebook instead of haaartland If you are a gamer and don't care what nation is behind Discord - go for it
