Deleting ending sounds helps students isolate and manipulate phonemes. Here's a walkthrough on how to introduce "final phoneme deletion" in just 5-7 minutes a day. We'll start by naming a word, such as "mass." Students will repeat it and identify the final sound. Then, they'll say the word again, this time without the ending sound. This demonstrates their ability to isolate and remove phonemes! The greater their comfort with phoneme manipulation, the better equipped students will be to sound out new words! Books: Speech Dynamics: Kleber and Rathcke (eds.) (2024): The relationship between diachronic change and synchronic variation at the articulatory, auditory, acoustic and social level is one of the greatest puzzles in the study of language. This volume compiles new evidence from articulatory,

Join me on Tuesday for "Origin is Ever-Present: Reading Jean Gebser as Contemplative Practice." Lesson I of my online course, "Seeing Through the World: Jean Gebser and Integral Consciousness." Each lesson builds on one another, yes, but in the spirit of poetic fragments, each lesson can be encountered on its own as an opportunity for deepened reflection. In this session, we will playfully hold the framework that Ever-Present Origin, as a practice of reading, can be 'catalytic,' inviting us to explore its koan-like statements and challenges that work on the reader's perceptual and conceptual habits. Origin is ever-present--can we turn our attention, again and again, to this insight? What happens when we do? Registration remains open, and so students can join in and watch up on the recordings any time. https://lnkd.in/ej9H8utx

Carte Semiotiche n. 11 - Interfaces. Forms of access and intermediation devices”. Open call for publications! From the CfP: "At a time when the workings of technology are becoming increasingly invisible and the acceleration in processing huge amounts of data is becoming unmanageable for a human-only intelligence, the interface becomes a gateway that suggests avenues of research in both the sciences and the humanities. Studying the formal organization, aesthetics and stylistic conventions, discursive registers, rhetorical and communicative strategies of interfaces can be one way to shed light on the particular patterns of the world they embody, and through them deepen our relationship with these mediated forms of communication. The entire text of the call for publication (in Italian, English, French and Spanish) is here: https://lnkd.in/dFYynXUD Deadline for abstract submission: February 29, 2024 Date of communication of admission of proposals: March 10, 2024 Deadline for submission of selected contributions: June 30, 2024 End of the revision procedure: September 30, 2024 Expected volume release date: Fall 2024.

From my studio, I love to see tactile, page-turnable literature and art. When such a fine quality, as Mountain Gazette, it simply can not be recreated in digital media smattered across churned-out posts which we've become numb to seeing blur across our screens. #quality #printliterature #printedmagazine #mountainliterature
