Attending the #G7 Italy's "Ministers' Meeting on Tourism" in Florence, our CEO Marco Troncone intervened in the side event "Innovation, Inspiration and Sustainability Visions for the Future of Tourism", where he shared perspectives with Italian and international CEOs, managers and entrepreneurs on the importance of infrastructures and cooperation for the #sustainable development of tourism in our Country. "At Fiumicino airport, we expect to achieve a record traffic volume, not distant from 50 mln passengers, by the end of the year. However, despite the unprecedented growth in international/intercontinental traffic recorded at #FCO - which confirms the attractiveness of Rome and Italy - still too many passengers use non-Italian hubs in Europe to stopover before reaching intercontinental destinations", Troncone stated. "Given Italy's potential to gain a more central positioning in the context of international air connectivity flows, greater investments in airport infrastructure are necessary to attract new traffic, bringing new wealth to the country. The Jubilee can stimulate this process, but action needs to be taken fast to be more internationally competitive".
