Team Sofinnova lit up the streets of Paris at the annual La Course des Lumières, all in support of cancer research! 🌟
This incredible event brought people together with one powerful goal: bringing the fight against cancer forward.
We're proud to take steps—literally—toward brighter futures. 🏃♀️✨ Hope to see many of you with us next year.
This is why I do what I do: to help move the needle on truly important, impactful work such as that performed by the American Cancer Society. To support this mission, *and* engage in a deep dialogue with thought leaders, makes me quite fortunate.

Today is #RareCancerDay a day to build awareness, educate and raise a call to action to support research for the largest group of known cancers - yet the most under funded, and most mis-diagnosed. Thanks Jim Palma for your post today noting the importance of all of us to play a role to bring curative therapies to over 20 per cent of cancer patients battling "rare".
And big thanks to the #USCongress for officially recognizing this day-- once again (more to come on this).
To learn more about rare cancers and how "you" can help, log into www.targetcancer.org -the nation's leading foundation focused solely on all rare cancers. Also learn what the leading rare cancer research center #Fredhutch and Taran G. are doing to advance curative therapies www.rarecancerprogram.com Very promising news for rare cancer patients!

It's #RareCancerDay! TargetCancer Foundation (TCF) works to advance the development of more effective and personalized treatments for people like me with rare cancers. Click on the link below to learn about TCF-001 TRACK, TCF’s patient-driven #precisionmedicine clinical trial focused on all rare cancers and to hear my experience with clinical trials from the patient keynote I delivered at TCF's annual meeting last year.
Fun facts about patients facing #rarecancers:
- There is often no established stand of care (treatment plan) for rare cancers (there are no FDA-approved options for #ocularmelanoma based on my genetic markers)
- Doctors may lack expertise and experience with their specific type of rare cancer (I live in Denver, CO and we don't have any oncologists focusing solely on ocular melanoma)
- Drug approvals favor larger patient populations, and rare cancers are often left behind
- #clinicaltrials, which may offer opportunities for effective treatment, are often lacking in rare cancers
- Rare cancers generally receive less attention from major funding sources
- Smaller patient populations lead to difficulty in clinical trial recruitment
Thank you, Kristen Palma & Jim Palma, for all you are doing to make things better for rare patients!

Medical Doctor( MD): | Global Health |Healthcare leadership, Governance and Advocacy| |Cancer Research | Building Capacity of African Scientists| We grow by helping one another
There are some very much needed programs during this Global Cancer Week. Among the session that have captured my attention are
1.The global cancer workforce in crisis: how to reverse a threatening trend, build capacities and promote equity, which is a needed discussion on how we can promote Youth inclusion in building a cancer workforce.
2. From policy to practice: Transforming cancer care in Africa by implementing guideline-concordant care,
3. Cancer Health Disparities: Tackling the inequalities conundrum.
4. Impact of climate change in cancer care: experiences around the globe. We cannot fight cancer without taking climate change into play and considerations by Cancer Trials Ireland
5. Investing in Cancer Prevention and Control in Low-and Middle-Income Countries including Small Island Developing States: A Strategic Multi-Country Dialogue. from The Commonwealth
6. Cancer Moonshot 2.0: win-win collaborations extending the Cancer Moonshot globally leveraging technology/AI.
I hope special consideration is given to participants from LMICs and specifically the Youths to allow their participation in these discussions and financial barriers are removed to foster their participation.
