It is business. The cruel reality is that it is business. The Commonwealth Games doesn't have the commercial clout of a World Cup, an Olympics or maybe a Super Bowl. Even Olympic Games don't necessarily make tangible profits for their host nations, albeit there are many intangibles. With 2 years to go, it will also be increasingly harder for any prospective host nation to get ready. We are all professionals here. We can already see the massive ROI and project risk issues. Here is why i think pvr is a great investment opportunity. Have you ever visited a premium cafe or restaurant and thought that you could have ordered that same food from your nearest cheap place for a fraction of the price you paid. No because you were there for the experience the food almost never justifies the 10x price you pay it is always justified by the ambiance. Similarly putting pvr’s ott situation in the anology we can conclude that the theatre business is here to stay for the reason that they are providing the luxury experience and it is the experience even the lower income section can afford. They are targeting everyone and selling true and perceived luxary to all kinds of people. Their growth is also looking good as footfall is showing increase .They are the biggest player in cinema business with 3,57,162 screens over 113 cities. The only actual risk to pvr can be the fact that they don’t control supply chain of what they sell ,ie they don’t produce movies so they rely that good content is produced. For this ,I think if they can start producing good content which people want to watch and release that exclusive to pvr to kill any competition left in India and end the ott war.
