In the transient numerical simulation of vertical Bridgman crystal growth of mono-like silicon, solidification is controlled by adjusting the heating power and the position of the crucible. The crucible is moved from the hot zone to the cold zone using a pedestal support, allowing for controlled cooling and solidification. A moving mesh technique is employed in the simulation to accurately model the crucible's movement and capture the dynamic behavior of heat transfer, fluid flow, and solidification front evolution during the process. This raimains a qualitative simulation, since a quantitative simulation requires using PID algorithme to control temperature 🌡️ in a specified monitoring points by varying heating power and crucible position, the optimized process is attained while calculated temperature (numerical value) is the same as dezired one (experimental value). #CFD# #movingmesh# #PIDcontrol# #crystalgrowth# #verticalbridgman#

Gaining insight into particle behavior without relying on a volumetric mesh is the essence of meshfree Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulations. Meshfree simulation allow the cases to run 5x faster compared to mesh-based simulation. At ENA2, we conduct various meshfree DEM simulations, spanning from conveyor belt simulations to twin extruder analyses. Below is an example demonstrating the simulation of an excavator shovel's impact as it scoops granular material from a shallow pit. The simulation involves the composite motion of the scoop, incorporating both translations and rotations. The simulation results allow us to assess the number of particles scooped and the disturbance caused to the granular bed.
