I believe all buildings should aim to be integrated in as many ways as possible with nature. With industrial developments that can be easier said than done. Here are some ways I would love to see buildings take nature more into consideration. Green Roofs and Living Walls: Incorporate green roofs and living walls into industrial building designs to enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and mitigate urban heat island effects. These green spaces provide habitat for native flora and fauna, absorb rainwater runoff, and create visually appealing landscapes that contribute to employee well-being. Natural Light and Ventilation: Design industrial buildings with ample natural light and ventilation to reduce energy consumption, enhance employee comfort, and promote productivity. Utilize daylight and skylights to maximize natural illumination, while passive ventilation systems and operable windows facilitate airflow and indoor-outdoor connectivity. Native Landscaping and Habitat Creation: Surround industrial buildings with native landscaping and habitat features to create wildlife-friendly environments. Plant native trees, shrubs, and grasses to provide food and shelter for birds and pollinators, and incorporate features such as birdhouses, bat boxes, and insect hotels to support biodiversity. Energy-Efficient Design and Renewable Energy: Prioritize energy-efficient design principles and renewable energy technologies to minimize environmental impact and reduce operating costs. 3 points that make our company building particularly sustainable! 🌱💼 1️⃣ Naturally with wood: Our building is constructed using modern wood system construction from Regnauer Fertigbau GmbH & Co. KG. This creates a wonderfully balanced indoor climate and the building material used is also a natural carbon sink.   2️⃣ The energy concept: The air source heat pump not only ensures a comfortable indoor climate and sufficient fresh air but is also one of the most sustainable heating systems. With the photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the building, the energy demand for the company building can be covered with approximately 55,000 kWh of solar energy.   3️⃣ Room design: During the development of the new company building, the spaces were designed based on existing workflows. Outer Dome Structure: Estimated cost: $122.75 million to $207.75 million. This includes the dome’s retractable design, transparency features (50% transparent), and climate control systems. 2. Interior Development: Remaining budget after dome construction: $13.8 billion to $13.9 billion. This includes: Residential and Commercial Buildings (up to 200 meters tall inside). Infrastructure (roads, utilities, green spaces, etc.). Luxury Features: High-end design, gold-infused concrete for value retention and aesthetic. Power Grid (including Solar Roll integration, renewable energy systems). 3. Power Generation and Grid: Investment in solar energy systems (Solar Roll) and other renewable energy solutions. This grid will not only power DomeCity but could also sell energy to nearby cities. 4. Waste Management: Waste will be processed outside DomeCity for environmental efficiency, with investments in sustainable waste plants. 5. Labor and Social Programs: Programs for transforming homeless individuals into the labor force. No homelessness within DomeCity. The remaining funds in the budget will likely cover additional amenities, technological innovations, smart city infrastructure, and potential unforeseen costs.
