Today at DLL Solutions we are talking about New York's innovative approach to decarbonizing building heating systems by repurposing gas pipelines for clean heat distribution, as is discussed in the Canary Media article below. From our viewpoint, this strategy not only aligns with environmental goals but also offers a practical solution to leverage existing infrastructure for sustainable energy needs. As New York pilots this approach, please let us know what insights you think other regions can gain from their experiences, and how utilities nationwide can apply similar transformations in their markets. #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #InnovationInEnergy https://lnkd.in/g9G5Q5vi

Port of Aberdeen begins construction on Scotland’s largest shore power system By: Chloe Emanuel, 4C Offshore ''The Port of Aberdeen has officially begun construction on Scotland’s largest commercial shore power system, a £4 million project aimed at providing clean electricity to vessels at seven berths. The project, which is expected to deliver its first power in March 2025, represents a significant milestone in the UK's push towards greener port operations. The "Shore Power in Operation" project, one of the first of its kind in the UK, has received match funding through the Department for Transport's Zero Emissions Vessels and Infrastructure (ZEVI) competition. Bob Sanguinetti, CEO of Port of Aberdeen, emphasised the importance of this initiative, stating, “We are delighted to be breaking ground on this project, which is pivotal on our journey to net zero by 2040.” The system, installed by PowerCon, a leader in shore power technology, will connect vessels to clean, grid-powered electricity, allowing them to shut off their engines while docked. This shift is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 80% compared to traditional marine gas oil use and significantly cut down on harmful pollutants like nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides.'' #netzero #decarbonisation Read the full article here - https://lnkd.in/dQCkgFus

Another gem from Giles Parkinson Regulatory issues (ie grid and environmental) are the biggest barriers to accelerating the energy transition right now (not access to talent) and investors, developers, constructors need a clear path forward #thefutureisrenewable

Some positive steps in the right direction. The distribution and supply of renewable, sustainable energy may seem like tomorrows problem, but unless it's addressed today it will always remain a problem. We have the power now, today, to think, not just for ourselves, but for all future generations. This is very promising indeed! https://lnkd.in/eZ-meFuA

ENERGY AT SEA: We welcome today's announcement from #Labour that it will invest in #floatingwind farms off Britain's coast to support #energysecurity and the drive towards #netzero. The floating bases of these huge offshore wind turbines are best made from UK concrete and we urge The Labour Party to commit to using local supply chains for their delivery. The UK has abundant geological resources to meet the material need, but the right planning and permitting system is required to enable MPA members to produce the concrete, as well as significant infrastructure work to get domestic ports ready for assembly and deployment. A recent report from The Crown Estate explains how more than 5,000 new jobs and up to £1.4 billion could be generated for the UK economy by galvanising the supply chain and infrastructure opportunities from the development of new floating wind farms off the coast of South Wales and the South West England. This is a great opportunity for the UK’s climate aspirations and, with the right approach, could deliver an economic boost using locally sourced and locally produced materials to deliver a sustainable and cost-effective solution. "As infrastructure continues to age and sustainability becomes increasingly important, regulators must provide utility companies with the needed capital to keep up with projects that are essential to delivering safe and reliable energy," CBIA's Chris DiPentima notes in a Hearst Connecticut Media Group op-ed. "It's time for Connecticut policymakers to work with utilities to meet our growing energy demands while supporting the build-out of additional sustainable sources of energy." #energy #sustainability #transformCT
Opinion: For now, natural gas is here to stay in Conn.

Interesting news from the U.S. Department of Interior. The Biden-Harris Administration has allocated $19 million from the Investing in America Agenda towards innovative solar panel installations above canals in California, Oregon, and Utah. These projects, supported by funding from President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, aim to both produce renewable energy and enhance water conservation efforts simultaneously as we continue to work toward our clean energy goals. Benefits include generating renewable energy and reducing the energy footprint and carbon emissions required to operate and maintain the facility. The President’s ‘Investing in America’ agenda marks the largest-ever commitment to building resilience against climate change in our nation's history.
