A large utility was encountering high failure rates in their High Voltage Current Transformers (HVCTs). The utility sought to explore online technologies to assess the health of their assets more efficiently, rather than the alternative of conducting time-consuming and labor-intensive DGA tests. See how online monitoring provided a solution in the case study below. https://lnkd.in/gNC2VFC8 #dynamicratings #casestudy #assetmanagement #energy

As #utilities grapple with challenges in the distribution network, it is fast becoming apparent that there is a severe lack of real-time operating data as a way to maximize efficiency of the existing grid until new #transmission infrastructure is available. In response to these challenges, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has updated their policies and will require utilities to update their transmission line operations by July 12th, 2025. Did you know that in 2023, solar panel fires went up six-fold when compared to 2019? As an increasingly popular market, solar power systems are incredibly versatile – ranging from single homes to huge energy farms. However, with inadequate regulations for fire detection, solar panels are often left terrifyingly susceptible. With threats from several sources, such as short circuits, debris, and overheating of the panels, associated cabling and inverters, this unreliable method of detection can be the difference between life and death. Unimpacted by the elements, linear heat detection is the perfect solution for early fire detection in the solar energy sector – and it can be easily installed to any existing solar application. Thermocable's Manufacturing and Compliance Director, Philip Wilkie, explains more in this video below. In the last issue, we talked about the solution of adding batteries to the photovoltaic water pump system. My advice is not to recommend. The reasons why it is not recommended and the recommended solutions are in the previous issue. If you are interested, you can read the previous issue. This issue is: "How to add a battery solution" 1. One or two sets of photovoltaic arrays are used to provide energy. If there are two groups, one group supplies power to the battery and the other group drives the pump. 2. Three sets of off-grid inverters, one set is used to absorb photovoltaic energy into the required battery. One set is used to remove power from the battery. Or use a "2-in-1" inverter. One set is enough here. The third set is used to provide energy for the pump to operate. 3. Prepare some switches to turn on or off. 4. Choose appropriate surge protection for protection. #Solarseeker #Solarpump
