Sign $12 Million Deal to Boost Solar Energy in the Philippines The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Buskowitz Solar Inc., a subsidiary of Buskowitz Energy Inc., have inked a $12 million agreement to promote clean and affordable solar energy for commercial and industrial consumers in the Philippines. The project aims to generate 88 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 54,000 tons. Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS), in collaboration with Darling Green Country Estate and TouchPointEnergy, is embarking on a pioneering 6 MW solar project in Darling, South Africa. This innovative venture, the first of its kind in the country, will unfold in two phases, contributing significantly to the local economy and energy resilience. In the initial phase, SPS will commission a 1 MW solar plant to provide clean energy to the newly developed Darling Green Country Estate. The energy produced will also be sold to Swartland Municipality for the first three years as the estate’s 163 stands, which have already sold out, continue development. Phase two will see the construction of a 5MW solar farm, connected to the Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd substation, enabling SPS to supply power through wheeling to customers connected to Eskom’s grid across the country. The first phase is expected to be operational by the end of October 2024, while the second phase is set for completion by mid-2025. Francois Van Themaat, MD of SPS, expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing its positive impact on the Darling economy and residents, while providing much-needed protection against load shedding. SPS, alongside TouchPoint Energy, views this as a major step toward enhancing renewable energy infrastructure in the Western Cape. NEOSUN Energy, a leading global EPC company, has established an agreement to implement a 1 MW rooftop solar facility at Dayizenza Mall in Nelspruit, South Africa. With a remarkable capacity of 998 kWp, this project marks a pivotal advancement in sustainability for the mall and underscores Neosun Energy's growing presence in the South African market. The project has an internal rate of return (IRR) of 53% and a payback period of only 12 months, aided by a Section 12B government tax incentive. Total savings over the plant’s lifetime are projected to surpass R164 million, highlighting its cost-effectiveness in renewable energy. Neosun Energy has started its project and opened new branches in Cape Town and Johannesburg to better serve local customers. With South Africa's energy issues, like load shedding and increasing electricity costs, solar energy is seen as a practical solution for businesses. The solar station will reduce CO2 emissions by 25,807 tons and establish Dayizenza Mall as a leader in sustainability in Nelspruit.
