DOE Invests in Clean Energy Infrastructure with $6 Million CO2 Transport Project and $48 Million for Regional Carbon Networks The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) has allocated $6 million to a project focused on transporting carbon dioxide (CO2) from industrial and power generation sites to offshore geologic storage in Texas. The selected initiative aims to develop a modular transportation network connecting CO2 sources near the Port of Corpus Christi to permanent storage locations in state waters. In a parallel announcement, the DOE revealed plans to provide up to $48 million under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s fourth round of funding for regional CO2 transport networks. These networks will link CO2 sources to […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dxBknYDb #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #america #carbonstorage #cleanenergy #doe #netzeroemissions #northamerica

Regardless of how you feel about renewable vs. fossil fuel-powered energy, I think we can all agree: U.S. grid and transmission infrastructure is in dire need of an upgrade. Well, the Biden Administration agrees, so they've decided to designate 10 new potential corridors for transmission lines that can handle the increase in renewable power and minimize rolling blackouts. https://lnkd.in/eVVrQ827

Hey network! 🌟 I rarely post on LinkedIn, but I’m making an effort to share a bit more, especially when there’s a transformative idea worth discussing. Check out this insightful article below that explains why we should prioritize building electric transmission infrastructure (i.e. powerlines) before solar installations in highway corridors. Why, you ask? Who even thinks about this stuff!? It turns out, this is an idea whose time has come as the US seeks to expand transmission capacity to electrify, decarbonize, and clean up our energy use! In other words, if we’re going to expand, let’s do it right—keeping powerlines out of private lands, ecosystems, and away from disturbing farm and farmers. Instead, let’s build where we already have open space: interstate highway ROWs! As the US continues to plan for a cleaner grid with more capacity, we need to look at the most efficient way to place the infrastructure. I am a huge fan of solar energy (and, let's face it, sunshine in general!) so, it is excellent to include solar in this broader conversation. The team I work with at Great Plains Institute is actively working with coalition partners in multiple states to effect policy and remove prohibitions to using our shared highways corridors.
Happy Thursday! 🌞 Dive into this insightful article that highlights the importance of prioritizing electric transmission infrastructure in highway ROWs before solar installations. This transformative idea is rooted in common sense and could revolutionize our approach to sustainable energy. Let’s spread the word! Please read and share.

We can have our cake and eat it too, but it just requires a little foresight. This quick read discusses the tradeoffs and benefits of how to best utilize our highway systems to deploy the size and scale of clean energy projects needed to meet our growing electricity demands. Hint: high voltage transmission is key.
