There is a lot of interest in silicon anode for EV batteries. Here is a short one pager for those interested. Today, the key focus of EV OEMs are the silicon technologies that (1) can reduce the cost of EV batteries to enable more affordable EVs with longer range; (2) can scale-up to large quantities required to support large volume EV battery production in existing factories with current EV-qualified suppliers; and (3) can reduce execution risks, ranging from process risks in coating electrodes to safety and to IP risks. To my knowledge, the SINANODE technology from OneD Battery Sciences is the only silicon technology today that meets all three of the above criteria. As we come to the end of 2024, I am very grateful for our R&D team in Palo Alto CA to have proven this with the building and testing of several hundred EV cell prototypes (with the help of cell partners and EV customers). I am also very grateful for our Pilot team to have completed in 2024 the SINANODE Pilot Plant in Moses Lake WA, and be ready to support customers with many tons per month of silicon-graphite anode materials in 2025 for the EV cell qualification process. #EVbattery #silicon #sinanode

#News on #Solid #State #Battery #Industry On September 1st, the chairman of the world's leading power battery companies in the 2024 World Power Battery Conference, the first public response to the all-solid-state batteries and other topics, and that the power battery industry must move into the “high standard” development stage. He said, that if the number 1 to 9 indicates the maturity of solid-state battery technology and manufacturing, 1 is just beginning to involve the field, and 9 is technically mature and can be put into mass production. Currently, the highest level of the solid-state battery industry reaches only level 4 now, made some device samples, and some experimental verification. The current solid-state battery industry made some device samples, there are many boundary conditions in use. For example, at 6000 atmospheres to achieve high low-temperature performance, meaning that these devices can not be put into market applications. In this regard, the key to developing all-solid-state batteries lies in studying materials and chemical systems, the most difficult of which is the “solid-solid interface” problem.
