What does good Board engagement look like? This is a struggle for all of us, including me! I'll share what's worked for me in the coming weeks. What things are true? Nonprofit Executives are stressed about their Board of Directors. Board of Directors struggle to find the right tools to make the impact they hoped when they join a Board. Board Members often have significant untapped potential at your organization. It's difficult to manage 6+ people simultaneously, let alone manage UP to 6+ people. All Executive Directors want to be respectful to their Board Members, but it's hard to convey often more than 40 hours worth of work into a bi-weekly or monthly update at best. You may only have one meeting every quarter to engage, and then sub-committee meetings in between monthly if possible. These can become huge time commitments and stress for nonprofit leaders. If you're a Nonprofit Executive Director and this sounds familiar to you (like and share!), follow along as I share a 360 perspective and potential solutions for dealing with your challenges.

How is your nonprofit board functioning? When is the last time you had a formal assessment? Great boards make organizations great. Maximizing your organization’s impact starts with a clear roadmap to facilitate board excellence. Assessing your board’s capacity and competence in the areas of governance practices, stewardship, membership & responsibilities, effectiveness, revenue generation, board structure, and overall executive management is vital to maximizing impact. One of my recent client's captured well the benefit of an assessment; "The assessment was an efficient and comprehensive approach that included a review of existing board documents, a comprehensive board survey, and 1 on 1 interviews with our board members. The final deliverable was a thorough executive summary with detailed actions plans tailored to our organization. We are now executing our path forward to act on the recommendations and take our board to the next level. " Ready to take your board to the next level of excellence? https://lnkd.in/gPZMqH6d
