DAY 3: My Career Story As an administrative assistant and customer service support, one defining moment in my career was when I had to handle a critical situation involving a dissatisfied client. The client was upset over a delayed order, and the frustration was escalating. I was tasked with resolving the issue while maintaining the company’s reputation. Instead of simply offering an apology, I took a proactive approach—communicating clearly with the client, offering immediate solutions, and following up personally to ensure they were satisfied. In the end, not only did we retain the client, but the situation also turned into an opportunity to streamline our internal processes, reducing delays moving forward. This experience taught me the value of empathy, proactive problem-solving, and the importance of clear communication in both administrative and customer service roles. I’d love to hear about your defining moments! What’s a lesson you’ve learned that shaped your career in customer service or administration? #14daysconsistencychallengewithmmesoma #day3visibilitychallengewithmmesoma

Before starting my professional career in customer success and marketing, I worked for 3 years in the service sector in restaurants in Colombia, Germany and the US. Those were my first steps in working with customers, providing customer service, managing complaints, claims, executing tasks under pressure, agility and proactivity. These places are in fact where you learn to control your emotions to be able to maintain a smiley face even with a huge amount of work. While giving advise to my friends on good practices on how to find a job I have realised that we don't give the recognition they deserve to those small learnings we take before performing in more "corporate" jobs and we are missing a big part of our process that was key to develop top basic skills to continue growing in our personal and professional journeys. Considering these experiences you can say with high confidence that you have a high customer-oriented mindset, problem solving and priorization skills to start on a early-entry job as a customer service representative. Technical skills you can learn on the road. #CustomerSuccess #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerPath

Transitioning from my role in customer service to working as a Research/Executive Assistant, I find myself reflecting on the journey that brought me here. Over the years, customer service taught me invaluable skills—active listening, empathy, and problem-solving—all of which I now see as essential for my new position. In customer service, I learned the importance of not just hearing, but truly understanding the needs of others. Whether resolving a customer’s issue or navigating a tricky situation, I developed the ability to manage expectations and deliver results under pressure. As I stepped into the role of an Executive Assistant, I realize how transferable those skills are—only now, the stakes feel higher, and the impact more profound. Supporting an executive requires not only managing their day-to-day tasks but thinking several steps ahead to make sure their time is spent strategically. The shift from reactive, fast-paced interactions to a more proactive and strategic environment is both challenging and exciting. I am now responsible for gathering insights, coordinating projects, and anticipating the needs of my team in ways that shape outcomes long before they happen. It’s a rewarding shift—moving from addressing short-term concerns to contributing to long-term goals. The personal aspect of this new role is also something I’m embracing. I’m no longer just a voice on the phone but a trusted confidant and collaborator. The trust placed in me feels like an opportunity to make a tangible difference, not just for the executive I support but for the wider organization.😎😎 #Adaptability #Growth

Customer service is such an underrated skill! ✨💪 After several years as a customer service manager, I'd learned so much about understanding people. When you're selling or marketing, it's all about getting to know your customers or targets—their thoughts, where they’re coming from, and what keeps them up at night. 😴 By interacting with many people every day, observing how they make purchasing decisions, and resolving conflicts, I'd learned to see things from the customers’ perspectives. I wholeheartedly believe that no job or experience is ever a waste of time. 🙅🏻♀️ It's up to us to stay inquisitive, curious, open-minded, and learn from what we do. There's always something new to discover! 👏👏 #Tuesday #TuesdayMotivation #CustomerService #JobExperience #LearnEveryday #LearnAndGrow #Marketing #Sales #MarketingInJapan

This is just a sample of my Job Journey document I started in September. 14 Nov- Customer Service Grafton-JA Russell electrical- Applied 14 Nov- Customer Service Albany-JA Russell electrical- Applied 13 Nov- Customer Care Coordinator After Hours-Geneva-Applied 13 Nov- Customer Care Coordinator-Geneva-Applied 11 Nov- Customer service representative Floor scape- Applied 11 Nov- Customer service specialist- Mercury- Applied 11 Nov- Sales Support- Noel Leeming Applied After applied I will write the date and whether I got an interview or no job. Importantly I don't delete the entry just because I didn't get the job. It reminds me of the effort I am putting in. I think it's a positive thing although I can see how some might see the opposite. But it can be very easy to fall into the trap of feeling like you're not doing enough. The point of this document is to remind myself that I am doing things all the time and eventually one of these things will fall my way. On a really positive note I got my learners licence two weeks ago. Something I never thought I'd be able to do. Not only that I passed on my first attempt. At least now I have proper ID.
