Imagine a world where every child has the chance to live a full, healthy life. Unfortunately, for many children with metabolic diseases, this dream is cut short. But together, we have the power to change that. On Sunday, September 21st, I will be running the Dam tot Damloop for the 16th time, covering 10 miles from Amsterdam to Zaandam. This event is one of the Netherlands' largest single-day running events, and this year, my motivation is stronger than ever. I’ve joined #TeamMetakids because I believe we can make a difference in the fight against the leading cause of death among children—metabolic diseases. To make a lasting impact, crucial research is needed. Research that can save lives. But research requires funding. This is where you come in. Whistleblowers play a key role in guarding the integrity of organisations and governments. On World Whistleblower Day Transparency International Nederland spotlights Pierre Niessen, one of ten brave whistleblowers who tried for years to show the Dutch tax authorities (Ministerie van Financiën and Belastingdienst) that their pursuit of alleged fraudsters was illegal, disproportional and unethical #Toeslagenaffaire. What if #whistleblowers had been listened to? What if the abuse of government power, which led to financial ruin, devastation of families and children being taken away from their parents could have been cut short even by a year? Protecting whistleblowers prevents corruption, abuse of power and unethical behaviour and the Netherlands needs to do better. With this you enable our clients to: 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: The gentle movements of the carriage bed stimulate the body's muscles. Individuals with limited mobility benefit from these passive movements, which help regulate muscle tension and reduce stiffness. This can also lead to better coordination and balance. 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The carriage bed offers a wide range of sensory stimuli. The rhythmic movement, the warmth of the horses, and being outdoors provide a rich sensory experience. For those with sensory integration issues, this can enhance their sensory perception and make them feel more comfortable in their environment. 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴: Interaction with horses and the relaxing environment help reduce anxiety and stress. Many participants feel a sense of calm and satisfaction during and after the sessions, which is especially beneficial for people dealing with emotional disorders like depression or anxiety. 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Carriage bed riding is often done in a group, allowing for social interaction. Participants can enjoy the experience together, fostering relationships and reducing loneliness. Those who struggle with communication may open up more due to the relaxed, positive atmosphere created by the horses. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗺: Successfully participating in carriage bed riding boosts participants' self-confidence. The sense of control and enjoyment during the activity can improve their self-image, which is particularly important for individuals facing daily challenges that affect their independence and self-worth.
