It's affecting your health." My response is always the same: "I enjoy my work." As long as I find joy in what I do, it's never a headache for me. A few years ago, I was just like you - always busy with work. There were too many emails, meetings, and deadlines. It made me feel stressed 😩 and worried if I was not careful. That's why I started working on myself. 💪 Did everything go perfectly? No way. 😅 But I made progress little by little, and I was able to get rid of the stress. 🙌 From then on, my life became much better balanced. Today I want to help more people enjoy life without feeling too burdened by work. While our happiness at work is important, it is equally or more important that we not tie our happiness and identity solely to our work. This can be a contributing factor to high-achievers reaching the point of unhappiness and/or burnout. If you are someone who throws themselves into work 100%, and/or your work is a huge part of your identity, I recommend having a think about the other key components that make up who you are. - What are the other key roles and contributions that you dedicate yourself to, or you would like to be dedicating more of yourself to? - What are the things that really bring you joy and happiness? Are you dedicating any/sufficient time to doing those things? - Are you present at home, or bringing home work-stress and unable to turn-off from work? If you were to divide your current life/time into a pie chart comprised of where you spend your time, are there slices of the pie which are completely missing, or very small? If you were to redraw that pie chart into how you would like to be spending your time in the future, what would that look like? Think of the various things you would like to include, and how much time you would like to be spending on them on a monthly basis. Comparing the current and target pie charts….Where do some shifts need to be made? What are you going to reduce to enable the desired shifts and create greater happiness and a more holistic and well-balanced identity. This is part of what we do in my coaching session “Establishing Your Holistic & Well-balanced Identity”. We also cover other things in this session such as your core vrs shell identity, the 4 key components of personal identity, and the key roles that make up your identity and contribution outside of work/career.
