Thank you, Kurt Buhler for an excellent blog post attempting to bring some reality to the conversation about 'learning Fabric.' #PowerBI and Fabric are awesome for a lot of things, but at the end of the day #MicrosoftFabric a set of tools. No tool is the right tool for every job. Starting with the problem you are trying to solve, expanding your learning from where you are right now, and remembering that the tool is not the whole of the thing are going to lead you to better data-informed decision making than trying to learn all there is to learn. With the constant flood of updates and information (you sure have been busy, Microsoft!) it can seem like you are getting left behind. None of the experts are learning all of it. Working as a team and letting go of needing to know and do it all are going to propel you so much faster than trying to get through all of it at once.

For the past couple of days I decided to have some fun with an interesting dataset I found on Kaggle. The result... - Identifying player positions and associating them with a team - Recognise the position of the ball - Display the player on the ball - Track the  team's possession - Track speed and distance covered by players It all looks great in the selected video below however there is a lot of room for improvement before it can be considered a reliable source of information: - Increasing accuracy on ball tracking during shots, long balls, or other events that result in rapid movement of the ball - Better pitch projection - while certain configurations can work with specific camera angles, reliable software should take into account different camera angles and distances to the pitch. With all of the above, still one important questions remains. Who is this for? Spectators? Maybe. I am much more interested in exploring ways to determine tactics and gain a deeper understanding of player patterns both individually and collectively. Such insights are more difficult to obtain and even more difficult to trust. Especially, since being a football coach for 8 years myself, I know that football people can be very opinionated individuals. The future is now. We have to embrace it and enjoy the ride because football will never be coached the same way again. If anyone wants to give it a go, below is the kaggle dataset alongside a very well structured video that can be used as a starting point.
