Machine Translation (MT) excels at translating large volumes of content quickly, but without human oversight, machine translated content can contain costly errors that can harm clients, patients, and workers in high-stakes situations. Human translators bring cultural insights and domain-specific knowledge that MT engines often lack due to limited training data on technical subject matters across a variety of languages. Human oversight remains essential for quality assurance in specialized domains. #Translation #xl8 #MachineTranslation #Meme

Do we use a translation memory? Of course we do! Translation memory (TM) is and remains a powerful tool in the world of language translation. In its time, it has revolutionized how we handle repeated content and ensures consistency across projects. But how exactly is your translation memory utilized? Let's delve into it. 1. Your TM serves as a repository of previously translated segments. When you provide a document for translation, our system scans it against your TM. It finds matching or similar segments. This speeds up the translation process significantly, saving time and resources. 2. Your TM aids in maintaining consistency. We reuse past translations. This keeps your content's terms and style the same. It strengthens your brand and message. Moreover, your TM evolves with each translation project. New segments are translated. They are added to the memory, enriching it and improving future translations. 3. Your TM is a valuable asset for cost-effectiveness. By leveraging existing translations, we reduce the need for redundant work, ultimately lowering translation costs for you. Your translation memory is not just for storage. It's a dynamic resource. It improves translation efficiency, consistency, and cost-effectiveness. lexitech #localisation #translation #technicaltranslation

What we all care about is a fair compensation model for translators, right?💰⬇ What if Gen-AI could take us one step closer to building one? This is what my prompt presents: a raw idea for a translation effort-calculation model. Did Gen-AI create this, or did I? Well, both. It is a co-creation. It would never have happened if I hadn't asked for it. And regarding the output? It will never become something if I don't do anything about it. #cocreation #genAI #faircompensationmodel #translators #AItranslation #translationtechnology #translationeffort

ITI’s Slow Translation Manifesto is not anti-AI or MT. We know these technologies have a role and can be extremely useful. They can facilitate communication in situations where it might have previously been impossible, and they can contribute to translators’ efficiency. What the Slow Translation Manifesto does though, is recognise that these technologies have their limitations and without human input they can be risky. We argue that 'slow translation' is a human process thoughtfully carried out by people who care about words and meaning, and who value the time needed to research and understand the intricacies of the source text before translating it into the target language with precision, skill and artistry. Translation, like other services, has specific pricing. You may have heard of pricing methods for translation services such as per word, per hour, or per page. Below is a brief guide to the pricing standards and components within the translation industry. If you are seeking the most favorable price for your translation project, you need a trustworthy translation partner with transparent pricing policies. 📚The total cost of translation consists of four main elements: Price Per Word: Influenced by translation difficulty and language pair. Project Fees: Involve project analysis, preparation, and communication management by LSP. Quality Assurance: Ensures accuracy and consistency through thorough review processes. Translation Modes: Range from machine translation to dual human translation with editing. 🔍Choosing Translation Modes from Cheapest to Most Expensive: Machine Translation Machine Translation with Human Editing Human Translation Two Human Translators (one for translation and one for review and editing) #MachineTranslation #TranslationPricing #TranslationGuide

I agree with the ITI's Slow Translation Manifesto. It highlights that while AI and MT have their uses, the 'slow translation' process carried out by a professional, human translator offers many benefits that can't be matched by a machine.
