*****A TEAMWORK STORY***** As I sit here, my mind takes me back to a time where I was a part of a diverse team, working together towards a common goal. It was the festive season of Diwali, the festival of lights, and our team was abuzz with excitement and enthusiasm. We all came from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs, but that didn't stop us from celebrating this joyous occasion together. As the office was adorned with colorful decorations and the aroma of traditional sweets filled the air, we gathered around to light the diyas (lamps) and exchange warm wishes. It was a sight to behold, seeing everyone come together in harmony, forgetting all our differences and celebrating the festival of lights with such fervor. But what struck me the most was how this festive spirit translated into our work. As we embarked on a new project, the team dynamic was unlike anything I had experienced before. The sense of togetherness and camaraderie was infectious, and it reflected in our work. We brainstormed ideas, collaborated, and supported each other every step of the way. Just like how Diwali signifies the triumph of good over evil, our team's unity and teamwork led us to achieve great success. We were able to tackle challenges and overcome obstacles. The excitement starts with decorating our office space! From colorful lights to beautiful rangoli designs, we all contribute to creating a warm and festive atmosphere that brings joy to everyone. 2. One of the highlights of our Diwali celebration is the thoughtful thanksgiving gift. Our team collaborates to select gifts for our customers based on their preferences. This requires great coordination and planning, as we discuss each recipient’s likes and dislikes to ensure our gifts resonate with them. 3. After finalizing the gifts, our team takes the initiative to procure the items. Once we have everything, we gather in the office to pack each gift with care, adding personal touches that make each one special. It’s heartwarming to see the teamwork in action as we wrap each item with love! 4. Finally, we distribute the gifts, and the smiles on our customers’ faces remind us of the importance of connection and gratitude during this festive season. I reflected among the chaos we experienced yesterday celebrating both Diwali 🪔 and Halloween 👻 on the same day! For those who don’t know, Diwali is a festival that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Hence, symbolically, we clean, organize and decorate the house to signify the removal of clutter and unimportant things which we don’t need(think garage sale or spring cleaning) I could not decide how best to decorate the house given both Diwali and Halloween fell on the same day this year. Our family enjoys both so we celebrated both among the chaos, imperfections, and confusion around what rituals to skip and what to follow. Was it hard? Hell, yes. Was it fun? Chaotic fun! What worked? Power of planning. Learned anything? Order takeout, don’t seek perfection in cooking. I realized how important it is to embrace both traditions, so our kids naturally learn: 1. Multicultural traditions and importance of celebrations 2. Embrace the differences as if it’s a norm 3. Strengthen connections between family and friends All towards the goal of becoming a global and a proud citizen, professionally and personally!

I’m sharing this on LinkedIn because, as a community, we need to rethink how we celebrate Diwali in a way that’s aligned with health, safety, and genuine festivity. This isn’t just about one person or one city—air quality and the effects of pollution impact everyone, and our choices during celebrations can have lasting consequences. Absolutely, the essence of Diwali lies in light, hope, and not in blaring noise or polluting our surroundings. Yet, each year, I find us witnessing the relentless fireworks, the streets littered with remnants of crackers, and the air so thick with smoke that stepping outside feels hazardous. With AQI levels skyrocketing to 900, Delhi’s air has become unbreathable. It’s a tragic irony that the very festival meant to celebrate life and light ends up darkening the air we all share. If we all commit to a more conscious Diwali, focused on light rather than noise and pollution, we can inspire others to do the same. LinkedIn is a place where we come together as professionals, leaders, and changemakers. I hope this post can spark a conversation on how we can balance tradition with responsibility, not just for ourselves but for future generations. PS - How have we reached a point where celebrating means harming our environment and health?
