It’s no coincidence that South Korea’s President Yoon survived an impeachment vote, Assad is on the run, Putin is escalating aggression, and Netanyahu is making increasingly controversial moves to cling to power. These events seem intertwined, reflecting ripple effects from January 6th and the most recent U.S. elections. The world watches what the United States does—or fails to do. And while I proudly stand with the 92% who reject authoritarianism, it’s clear that the so-called "strong men" of global politics are demonstrating profoundly weak leadership. On the world stage, their actions resemble a collective midlife crisis rather than effective governance. 😵💫 How this will shape the global political landscape remains to be seen. However, Assad’s disappearance raises critical questions: where is he, and who is protecting him? There’s a poetic irony in how dictators—who project strength and control—often flee or self-destruct when faced with real opposition. History shows that the fall of authoritarian figures can spark significant change. The question now is whether the global stage is ready for a shift toward accountability and progress.

This is unprecedented in US history. Israel used to have staed-fast support from both Republicans and Democrats and from the whole Jewish community. What is happening now shows how the far-right Netanyahu government has not only reduced the support for Israel in the USA, which mirrors how international support for Israel is falling, but how it also has the divided the Jewish communitys stand on Israel. The harm the Netanyahu government is doing to Israel can not be underestimated. "Nineteen Democratic senators effectively voted to block U.S. arms sales to Israel, in a landmark moment that demonstrates how Israel's standing within the Democratic Party nearly 14 months after the October 7 attack and the ensuing Gaza war and humanitarian crisis have largely defined outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden's foreign policy legacy. Eighteen Senate Democrats voted opposing a $774 million sale of 120mm tank rounds while 19 opposed a $61 million sale of 120mm high explosive mortar rounds in two separate votes. The third and final vote on a $262 million sale of joint direct attack munitions (JDAMs) is ongoing. Liberal and progressive Jewish organizations like J Street and Americans for Peace Now, meanwhile, lobbied in favor of the legislation, setting a new precedent in its own right about prominent Jewish organizations willing to hold Israel accountable in this form."

One Palestinian- (or very pro-Palestinian Arabic-) American briefly interviewed by CBC's TV news channel a week ago said she was actually going to cast her ballot for Trump this election instead of her usual vote for the Democratic candidate. Why exactly, she didn’t specify, other than the obvious Biden/Harris administration’s unconditional arming of Israel’s mind-bogglingly massive starvation, sickening and slaughter of Palestinians over the last year. However, it’s likely also due to the Democrats’ neo or phoney liberalism on this great-human-disaster issue: they should be well above Trump's unconditionally pro-Israel foreign policy. (Recall, for example, that he even appointed his Jewish son-in-law to head his administration’s Middle East “peace” efforts, which is a bit of a conflict of interest on his son-in-law’s part.) But the Democrats are not much or not at all above Trump’s as well as the Republican party’s transparent, very-long-standing thus expected unconditional political and military-arms support of Israel. In their phoniness, at least on this issue, the Democrats want to both have and eat their cake by expecting the political support of pro-Palestinian and anti-war Arab-, Muslim- and Palestinian-Americans.

Excerpt, Bret Stephens, the New York Times (Opinion) //(But) there’s an equally important dimension to Palestinian politics that is purely domestic. When Abbas was elected in 2005, it was for a four-year term. He is now in the 20th year of his four-year term. When Hamas won the 2006 legislative elections, it didn’t just defeat its political rivals in Fatah. It overthrew the Palestinian Authority entirely in #Gaza after a brief civil war and followed it up with a killing, torture and terror spree that eliminated all political opposition. Perhaps the absence of Palestinian #democracy shouldn’t come as a shock. The regime established by #Hamas isn’t merely autocratic. It’s more like the old East Germany, complete with its version of the Stasi, which spied on, blackmailed and abused its citizens. “Hamas leaders, despite claiming to represent the people of Gaza, would not tolerate even a whiff of dissent,” The Times’s Adam Rasgon and Ronen Bergman reported on Monday. “#Security officials trailed journalists and people they suspected of immoral behaviour. Agents got criticism removed from social media and discussed ways to defame political adversaries. Political protests were viewed as threats to be undermined.” Even this doesn’t quite capture the extent of Hamas’s cruelty. Consider its treatment of gay Palestinians — a point worth emphasising since “Queers for Palestine” is a sign sometimes seen at anti-Israel marches. Would an independent Palestinian state, living alongside Israel, improve its internal governance? Not if #Hamas took control — which it almost certainly would if it isn’t utterly defeated in the current war. We know something about what Hamas intends thanks to the concluding statement of a conference that it held in 2021 about its plans for “liberated” Gaza. Any Jew considered a “fighter” “must be killed”; Jews who flee could either “be left alone” or “prosecuted”; peaceful individuals could either be “integrated or given time to leave.” Finally, “educated Jews” with valuable skills “should not be allowed to leave.” In other words, what the campus protesters happily envisage as a utopian, post-Zionist “state for all of its citizens” would under Hamas be one in which Jews were killed, exiled, prosecuted, integrated into an Islamist state or pressed into the servitude of a Levantine version of Solzhenitsyn’s First Circle. Those same protesters might rejoin that they don’t want a future to be led by Hamas — but that only raises the question of why they do nothing to oppose it.// #geopolitics #autocracy #absolutism #fundamentalism

*ARE OUR LEADERS CONTROLLED BY FOREIGN POWERS?* How can the leaders of both main parties, @conservatives and @uklabour be in the service of the British people, when their decisions are swayed or influenced by the state of Israel by financial support and political power through Israeli lobby groups and connections? Especially when the said state is being investigated for war crimes and genocide? We the people do NOT stand for this insidious betrayal. Is the UK Parliament on the receiving end of treachery and even treason? When does following direction of a rogue and dangerous foreign power become treachery or treason? Our politicians are answerable to US the people. We must hold them to account, whether through the courts via legal avenues, or the most powerful recourse… The ballot box #government #betrayal #lobbying #conflictofinterest #conservative #labour #independent #investigation #politics #humanitarian #palestine #protest #ceasefirenow

We’ve observed a significant increase in identity-based disinformation from the Georgian government during the pre-election period, with many narratives clearly originating from Russia. The Georgian Dream party (GD) has been persuading people that EU integration poses a threat to family values. I’m also attaching a recent photo circulated by a GD propagandist; I believe it speaks volumes. More efforts are needed to raise awareness and counter identity-based disinformation, particularly in regions with large ethnic minority populations who don’t speak Georgian or English, making them especially susceptible to this type of influence. The risk of losing Georgia to Russian influence is very real, and it stands against the will of the Georgian majority, who are strongly pro-European.

The political landscape is rapidly evolving worldwide, from far-right victories in France to public discontent in South Korea and controversial developments in Israel and Mauritania. 🌍📰 #GlobalPolitics #ForeignPolicyInsights The recent political events in France indicate a significant shift as the far-right National Rally (RN) and its allies gained 33% of the vote in the first round of snap parliamentary elections. This result positions the RN, led by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, to potentially form France's first far-right elected government since World War II. President Emmanuel Macron's centrist coalition received only 21% of the vote, reflecting a critical moment for his administration. Internationally, right-wing parties across Europe are gaining momentum, planning to influence EU policies, especially regarding Ukraine and Russia. In South Korea, President Yoon Suk-yeol faces immense public backlash, with over 811,000 signatures on a petition for his impeachment, citing corruption and mishandling tensions with North Korea and public health issues. In Israel, the release of Palestinian prisoners, including Gaza's hospital director Mohammed Abu Selmia, has caused controversy amid allegations of torture and renewed conflicts with Hamas. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's mandate for citizens to wear lapel pins with his image highlights his push for loyalty.

BREAKING: Former U.S. Presidential Candidate @VivekRamaswamy Strongly Condemns U.S. Funding Of Azerbaijan’s Genocide & Ethnic Cleansing Of Armenians In Artsakh ➖➖➖ Former U.S. Presidential Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy strongly criticized U.S. foreign policy, particularly its support for Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing and Genocide of the Armenians in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which took place from 2020-2023, during a conversation with pro-Armenia pastor JoelTenney at The People’s Convention organized by Turning Point Action in Detroit, Michigan. During their dialogue, Tenney asked Vivek: “ How can we stand for freedom and liberty and justice for our country and allow these Christians to be persecuted the way they have been in places such as Armenia?” Vivek replied: “I’m glad you’re raising this. There’s 120,000 Armenian Christians who were displaced from their homeland. Does that mean that we should be going to war for their border? As I’ve opposed it in Ukraine, we shouldn’t be doing it in Armenia either. But actually, here’s the dirty little secret. the U.S. taxpayer, all of us who is funding Azerbaijan to actually do it. So the irony is everybody who’s somehow in the Ukraine caucus doesn’t have a peep to say about the real human rights travesty that we’re responsible for funding. The first and sole moral duty of U.S. elected leaders is actually to the citizens of the United States of America. And we stand with our allies by not. The very people who are trampling over them and you have 120,000 reasons for me to continue to talk about this issue as I will and I’m hoping to travel to Armenia later this year to actually make the point.” The People’s Convention, a focal point for conservative leaders ahead of the 2024 election, featured a lineup of high-profile speakers including Donald J. Trump, Charlie Kirk, Dr. Ben Carson, and Tulsi Gabbard, among others, discussing various national and international issues. Read the full article on ZartonkMedia.com
