This excellent paper was just published and it shows that the charging protocol of NMC/Graphite cells can have very significant impact on cycle life and aging. Here, 18650 cells are cycled with pulsed current protocols are compared to more traditional protocols. This is one more example of the importance of the BMS (battery management system) in EV batteries and the interplays between the performance of active materials and the system design of cells and packs. #evbatteries
