🩸 First-Time Blood Donation Experience: A Journey of Joy and Dilemma 🩸 While going through some documents recently, I stumbled upon my blood donation certificate issued on 13th August 2024. It sparked a wave of emotions and prompted me to share my experience, even though I hadn't initially planned to post about it. Donating blood for the first time was a moment of pride for me! 🙌 Knowing that my donation could help save a life was truly fulfilling. However, shortly after my donation, a relative of mine became seriously ill and needed blood. Unfortunately, because I had just donated, I wasn’t able to help at that moment. (For those who may not know, you need to wait 8 to 12 weeks before donating blood again.) This bittersweet experience highlighted how crucial regular blood donations are and the impact they can have on others. So here’s my message: If you’re eligible, consider donating blood. The New #KinderCharacterChallenge: Send Valentines to Children's Hospital Put a smile on a child at Children's Hospital this Valentine's Day. If you go to their website, https://buff.ly/3UsFkDQ you can send a valentine to a patient. On the form, choose your valentine, and it will be printed and given to a child in the hospital. It takes about 30 seconds, and it's FREE. Once you submit it, you are presented with an option to donate. The card printer is matching donations, and again, the donation is optional. No deadline was listed for when they will stop accepting valentines, but the sooner, the better. There are many children's hospitals that are doing this, so if you have additional time, try another. Just use your favorite search engine to find Valentines for Children's Hospitals. Some allow you to write a personal message (Cincinnati does not). This is why donating blood is so important, especially for those of us with O negative blood, the universal donor type. Only 7% of the global population has O negative blood, yet it’s the type most in demand because it can be given to anyone in emergency situations. This makes every donation critical.
