'These children need urgent support and protection. It requires a coordinated international response, with adequate resources, skills, and long-term solutions,' says Limia Ahmed, director of SOS Children's Villages in Sudan. 👉 Read about our alternative care and emergency response programmes in Sudan: https://lnkd.in/d2_HUbdx

Around 280,000 People Have Been Displaced in Syria Since November 27 Some 280,000 people have been displaced in Syria since November 27 due to fighting between rebels and Syrian forces, as a result of the meteoric rise of Islamist groups, the UN said today. "The numbers we have are 280,000 people since November 27. This is the updated number from last night [Thursday]. And this does not include the number of people who fled Lebanon during the recent escalation" of fighting between the Shiite group Hezbollah and Israel, Samer AbdelJaber, director of emergency coordination for the World Food Programme (WFP), said during a press conference in Geneva. "If the situation continues to evolve at the current pace, we collectively expect that around 1.5 million people will be displaced and will need our support" in Syria, he said. Massive displacements have been occurring since rebels led by the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched their lightning offensive just over a week ago. The offensive was launched as a fragile ceasefire was established in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah, a pro-Iran movement allied with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The war in Lebanon has caused hundreds of thousands of people to flee to Syria. The WFP warned that new mass displacements within Syria, more than 13 years after the start of the country's civil war, "are compounding years of suffering." Abdel Jaber said the WFP and its humanitarian partners wanted to "secure routes" that would allow aid to be delivered "to the communities that need it." "This is a crisis on top of a crisis," he stressed, stressing the urgent need for additional funding to help meet the enormous needs of these populations. https://ift.tt/UQo8CFR

The ongoing war in Sudan has been raging on for over a year, resulting in one of the world’s largest displacement crises : over 8 million people have been displaced inside the country and another 2 million have sought shelters in neighboring countries. The international humanitarian response is struggling to meet the massive needs. Security concerns, bureaucratic impediments, deliberate attacks on health facilities all make the provision of care incredibly difficult. In many of the places we work, we are the only organization on the ground, and that's simply not enough! #TalkAboutSudan and ACT! ➡Watch MSF International President, Christos Christou, shed light on the current situation in Sudan in this open letter. ➡More content on the harrowing and underreported crisis in Sudan: follow that link: https://bit.ly/3W785WU .

Thousands of Palestinian children in Gaza are facing a critical threat to their lives due to malnutrition caused by the ongoing conflict. The United Nations has highlighted that approximately 3,000 children in southern Gaza are at risk of perishing before their families' eyes due to the severe lack of food, nutrition supplies, and the destruction of healthcare services. The dire situation is a result of the military offensive in Gaza, disrupting access to crucial healthcare facilities and essential nutritional treatment. A ceasefire is imperative at this moment to ensure the safety of these vulnerable children. Immediate and safe humanitarian access is crucial to provide the necessary aid and support. #Gaza #HumanitarianCrisis #ChildrenInNeed #unicef
