Had the pleasure of attending Ohio Society of Association Professionals Annual Conference in Cinncinati and really enjoyed the networking, sessions and conversations. Thank you Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) for making this possible. My key takeaways include: - find ways to make your team feel valued at work and incorporate play as a primary research tool - Geoff McLachlan - understanding the challenges of hybrid and remote work models allows the whole team to discover ways to problem solve, and cultivate a healthy work environment by encouraging ways to build psychological safety and resilience. - don’t be afraid to question the status quo - a willingness to tell your story doesn’t have to be selfish or narcissistic and you can have a great and powerful impact by relating to others through story telling - meeting new people is fun, don’t forget that! #professionaldevelopment #remote #work #attendee #osap

Happy Juneteenth! On June 17, 2021, President Biden signed legislation making Juneteenth a federal holiday, marking a significant step in acknowledging the historical and cultural importance of this day. This decision came a year after the largest social protests in U.S. history, reflecting a nationwide call for justice and equality. Recognizing Juneteenth as a federal holiday underscores the importance of acknowledging and owning our public memory. It is a day to celebrate freedom and a moment to reflect on how the United States continues to evolve towards its ideals of democracy, freedom, and justice. Although the U.S. is a work in progress, it is through the relentless efforts of countless individuals that the nation strives to fulfill its promise: to be a place where all people can realize their unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To achieve this, we must ensure that the American narrative includes the collective journey of African Americans, particularly those descended from enslaved ancestors. One person dedicated to preserving the public record of Black lives in America, from Barack Obama to Colin Powell, is Julieanna Richardson. As the founder of The HistoryMakers, she oversees the largest collection of African American testimonies since the Works Progress Administration. I had the honor of interviewing her during the 64th annual Fulbright Association Conference, where she delivered a moving and poignant case for the necessity of documenting the Black narrative in America. Listen to our discussion about the impact of an incomplete public record of the Black experience in America. Happy Juneteenth! Let's continue to celebrate, reflect, and work towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Highly recommended to all young legal professionals with access. I use it as and when I can. #law
This month we celebrated our 199th birthday! 🎉 Here's a photo of our magnificent library taken in 1904, compared to today! 📚 We’re here to support solicitors at every stage of their career, from qualification through to retirement, and to advocate on the issues they've told us matter most, including the rule of law and access to justice. ⚖️ From October, we’ll come together with solicitors across England and Wales for a year-long celebration of the Law Society’s bicentenary – 200 years of supporting solicitors. ✨ Keep an eye out for updates on how we'll be marking our bicentennial year!

It's #BlackHistoryMonth and this year's theme is #reclaimingthenarrative In the lead up to this month, I've been reflecting on the role I can play in helping to #reclaimthenarrative through active and intentional allyship 🤝 For me, this means listening, learning, and leveraging my voice to uplift Black voices that have historically been marginalized or misrepresented🗣 . It’s about recognizing that Black history is not separate from broader history, but an integral part of it📚 But reclaiming narratives isn't just about amplifying the voices of the past; it’s about creating a future where Black perspectives are central to how we shape society, policies, and culture 🌍 . Allies can help by advocating for equitable representation, calling out bias when they see it, and using their platforms to elevate the contributions of Black individuals—both past and present 📢 This powerful performance by Dave really encapsulated the importance of this year's theme for me, demonstrating the crucial role that music and the arts can play in #reclamingnarratives 🎶 : https://lnkd.in/e2Tyk27c #AllyshipInAction #ReclaimingNarratives #BlackHistoryMonth2024 #AmplifyBlackVoices
