On Friday night, the State’s top athletes, coaches and high-performance staff were honoured at the 2024 SASI Awards ✨ The winners included: 🌟 Para Athlete of the Year – 𝗝𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝘀𝗰𝗵𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 & 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗸𝗶 𝗔𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 (Para-rowing) 🌟 Female Athlete of the Year – 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗵 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗼𝘁 (Basketball) 🌟 Male Athlete of the Year – 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗱𝘆𝗻 (Cycling) 🌟 Junior Female Athlete of the Year – 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 (Hockey) 🌟 Junior Male Athlete of the Year – 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 (Cycling) 🌟 Amy Gillett-Safe Award – 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗲𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 (Cycling) 🌟 Coach of the Year – 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻 (Rowing) 🌟 SASI Heart Award – 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗼𝗻 (Sports Engineer) Each winner was presented with artwork painted by Caitlyn Davies-Plummer - a proud Barkindji woman, living and painting on Kaurna Country (Adelaide). Caitlyn’s paintings tell hers and her father’s stories, using colours and patterns she sees across the landscape of Broken Hill/Menindee.
