The UK has emerged as the leader in global demand for Renewable Energy skillsets, as highlighted in the Global Green Skills Report 2024. From a recruitment perspective, we are seeing significant demand in several key areas: 🔌 Grid Connection: Engineers, Managers and those experienced in Grid applications. ✅ Commissioning: Via Project Management or a Consultancy, experience with HV substations and commissioning. 📈 Whole Lifecycle Project Management: Project Managers, Contract Managers & Consultants. ⚡ Electrical Engineers: Electricians, Site Managers and HV Engineers. These roles are critical in driving forward our onshore and offshore projects, however we've found that many companies struggle to find qualified and experienced people as highlighted in the report. That's why a couple of companies have chosen to partner with us to generate a consistent talent pipeline so they aren't caught short when it comes to hiring. Is it time your business did the same? The renewable project development hiring market right now? A blessing and a curse. Here’s why: The demand for project developers, managers, engineers, and other renewable professionals has skyrocketed. This is fantastic for candidates — they hold all the cards in this unbalanced market. As a relatively new and niche skillset, they’re in such high demand that many can ask for the moon. 🌕 But here’s the frustrating part: ❌ Ghosting after interviews. ❌ Dropping out during the offer stage. ❌ Negotiating compensation packages so far beyond reason that companies simply can’t compete. Sound familiar? Don’t get me wrong — there are amazing professionals out there who are honest, upfront, and genuinely committed to finding the right fit. Working with those candidates is a pleasure. So here’s my take: 💁 Candidates — yes, you’re in high demand, but remember, your reputation follows you. The best opportunities come from building relationships, not burning bridges. 🏢 Companies — to attract the best in this market, get creative. It’s not always about salary. Candidates value flexibility, meaningful projects, and a strong mission, too. 💬 What’s your experience? Have you faced similar challenges in hiring or job hunting in renewables?
