An enlightening analysis on mastering executive profiling by Jamie Whyte and Adam Cox. Based on in-depth research benchmarking 100 CEOs across media and LinkedIn. Find the results and the framework for success at https://lnkd.in/eX8BUvpt.
I'm really proud to launch our new approach to exec comms today. This project is four months in the making as Adam Cox and I tried to figure out the most accessible way to show how business leaders fare across the media and LinkedIn. We benchmarked 100 CEOs to find out what sets the best apart. They mix company updates and culture building with considered thoughts on improving industry practices, combatting major issues like climate change supporting disadvantaged groups and shining a light on societal wrongs. It's no surprise that founders find telling the company story easier. But when a leader joins a company or they rise up from within they have to quickly win the trust of employees, partners, their board and of course their customers. This is difficult as the media is in a real state of flux—8,000 journalists lost their jobs in the UK and US in 2023—and those that remain have their attention monopolised by industry giants (12,000+ articles were written about Zuckerberg last year). Add in disinformation, the speed at which social media rumours spread and the glut of machine generated content, it's clear that having trusted executives tell the company story in a human way is becoming an essential comms strategy. If you want to know more, we've got a full run-through of the new framework here: https://lnkd.in/eX8BUvpt And we would love to chat about how we can elevate your #execcomms programmes. Thank you André Labadie for the guidance and perspectives, Jacqui Macgregor for all the design work, Kate Smith and Fiona Goldsworthy Amusin for the support along the way and Akilah Harper, Lena Ofosu-Apeasah, Mia Elkouby Pippa Coleshill Sumaya Uddin, Taimen Zlattner for helping build a way too large database!

I am a results-oriented communications professional with a track record of collaborating with organizations to develop communication strategies that drive business objectives. In my close to 15 years of experience, I have seamlessly transitioned between consultancy and corporate roles, working with businesses across diverse sectors and sizes. And now, in my role as communications lead at Alstom, a leader in sustainable mobility, I work closely with C-suite leaders to shape and inform our communications strategy. My first 12 years were spent at leading PR agencies like Adfactors PR, MSL and Madison PR counselling clients like Amazon, Netflix, Audible, Tata Consumer among others, on positioning, crisis, issues management, marketing communications and advocacy. My expertise spans various aspects of communications, including corporate reputation management, crisis handling, integrated campaign planning, ESG and policy communications. My achievements include receiving multiple accolades and certifications for my exemplary performance and significant contributions to the field of PR. PRovoke Media recently published its 2024 Comms Index report. While the study focused on senior in-house communications leaders in APAC, the findings apply to what we have seen in North America: Lead generation has emerged as the key business priority, as companies increasingly expect the comms function to demonstrate its value and impact. Of note: ℹ️ Lead generation has moved up to fourth place in business priorities. ℹ️ ESG has dropped to fifth place (social impact) and seventh place (environmental/climate) ℹ️ AI is rapidly gaining ground. Usage and familiarity have increased significantly. ℹ️ The budget for communication is contracting, and the perceived value of communication functions has decreased. ℹ️ Measurement and metrics remain challenging, as higher-value metrics like awareness and behavior change still rank behind media clippings. The findings also remind me of something I recently read from Gartner: 50% of marketing leaders cannot prove marketing's value to their enterprise due to skepticism and traditional beliefs. The precarious macroeconomic environment and the high expectations placed on marketing and communications will continue to be challenging. For agency and client leaders, we need to internalize these dependencies and their potential impact on our work to better guide and support our clients. Thank you, PRovoke Media, for your work. Decoding the Ecosystem: Who are Your Stakeholders in PR? C-Suite leaders: Imagine navigating a crowded room without a map. Effective PR requires understanding your stakeholders – those impacted by, and who can impact, your organization. Who are they? ✅ Internal: Employees, executives, and even disgruntled interns (remember Milton in Office Space?) can be vocal advocates or silent detractors. ✅ External: Customers, investors, media, industry analysts – even your competitors (think: frenemies)! Why it matters: ✅ Targeted communication: Understanding stakeholder needs allows for tailored messaging that resonates with each group. ✅ Risk mitigation: Proactive engagement with stakeholders can prevent crises before they erupt. ✅ Building alliances: Fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders creates a network of support for long-term success. The Challenge: Identifying and prioritizing stakeholders can be complex. But remember, it's not about having the most followers; it's about building genuine connections with the right ones. The Question: How are you mapping your stakeholder landscape? Share your strategies in the comments! #PR #StakeholderEngagement #CSuiteInsights

The C-Suite's Untapped Asset: Rethinking PR in 2024 In a world saturated with information, reputation is the ultimate differentiator. Public Relations (PR) is more than press releases; it's the strategic cultivation of narratives that build trust and lasting relationships. But are C-Suite leaders leveraging its full potential? Beyond Headlines: A Holistic PR Approach Traditionally, PR focused on media relations. Today, it encompasses proactive stakeholder engagement, crisis communication, and brand advocacy. A well-defined PR strategy: Shapes public perception: PR narratives influence how audiences view your brand, impacting everything from customer loyalty to investor confidence. Informs strategic decision-making: Understanding stakeholder sentiment through PR insights allows for data-driven choices that resonate with your audience. Forges lasting connections: Proactive PR fosters trust and engagement with key stakeholders, building a foundation for long-term success. Quantifying the ROI of Reputation The impact of PR can be multifaceted, extending beyond traditional metrics. Let's explore innovative ways to measure its value: Brand sentiment analysis: Track online conversations to gauge public perception and identify areas for improvement. Increase in website traffic: Effective PR drives qualified leads through earned media placements and brand awareness. Improved recruitment: A strong employer brand, fostered by PR, attracts top talent, enhancing your competitive edge. The Call to Conversation PR is a strategic investment, not a cost center. As leaders, how can we leverage PR to build organizational resilience and achieve long-term success? Share your thoughts in the comments! #PR #ReputationManagemnt #CSuiteStrategy

In the dynamic world of Public Relations, success isn't reserved for those who have never faced setbacks. True victors are those who refuse to give up, regardless of the obstacles they encounter. Take the example of handling a major crisis. A well-known company faced a significant PR challenge when a product recall threatened its reputation. As PR professionals, we had to act swiftly and strategically. We crafted a transparent communication plan, engaged with the media, and managed customer concerns through timely and honest updates. It wasn’t the absence of the crisis that defined our success, but our relentless effort to turn the situation around. Another instance is launching a campaign for a new brand in a highly competitive market. Initial reception was lukewarm, and the client was on the brink of pulling the plug. But we didn’t give up. We revisited our strategy, conducted more in-depth market research, and reimagined our storytelling approach. The revamped campaign not only resonated with the target audience but also won several industry awards. It’s about learning from each misstep and continually pushing forward with innovation and creativity. In PR, the journey is filled with challenges, from managing crisis communications to crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. Each hurdle we face is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow stronger. It's not about never experiencing failure—it's about how we rise after each fall. It's about the relentless pursuit of excellence, the unwavering commitment to our clients, and the persistent drive to innovate and inspire. So, remember, in PR, as in life, champions aren't those who never falter but those who never surrender. Keep pushing boundaries, keep telling impactful stories, and keep transforming challenges into opportunities. #PRJourney #NeverGiveUp #PublicRelations #Success #Resilience #Innovation #challenges #Innovations #newlearnings #crisismanagement
