If there is one thing that regional and rural Australia is full off (aside from authentic people!) it's nature based assets. Tourism Research Australia data shows demand for nature-based visitor experiences grew by 47% from 2014 to 2023. Visitation to botanic or public gardens saw the highest growth at 85%, with the popularity of bushwalking and rainforest walks growing by 81%, and national or state park visitation rising by 73%! I have just returned from Cloncurry in Outback Queensland and once again was blown away by the natural beauty - dams and waterholes, Selwyn Ranges, contrasting colours - so many great opportunities to create meaningful visitor experiences that connect them with nature. Are you embracing this demand by creating nature based visitor experiences? #regionaltourism #nature #outbackqueensland

Four years ago, global tourism plummeted. Today, some tourist destinations struggle to manage overtourism. In a few years, tourist and hospitality sectors could face a bigger challenge as boomers “age out” of long-distance travel. Coming from my extensive tourism background, I've had the privilege of collaborating with tourism boards and hospitality clients worldwide, gaining profound insights into the intricacies of culture, gastronomy, history, and the myriad aspects that define destinations. It's this very diversity that imbues each destination with its unique charm and appeal. Through my global experiences, I've come to appreciate the transformative potential of local experiences within the realm of tourism. When I correlate this with Canada, in particular Ontario, I see an integration of authentic, immersive encounters that surpass conventional tourist offerings. These experiences showcase cultural diversity, storied heritage, and breathtaking natural landscapes. Events such as community festivals, artisanal markets, and eco-tours not only safeguard cultural and environmental integrity but also champion sustainable tourism practices, significantly reducing carbon footprints. More importantly, they facilitate genuine interactions between tourists and local residents, fostering deep cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect. Ultimately, these locally-driven initiatives enhance tourism fabric, bolstering local economies, nurturing communities, and leaving a meaningful and positive legacy for all stakeholders involved. #Tourism #Destinationdevelopment #Tourismstrategy #Canada #Ontario
