DEME Group has won a “substantial” contract to #transport and install inter-array cables and secondary #steel for the 800-megawatt OranjeWind offshore #windfarm in the Netherlands. The Belgium-based contractor said it would deploy #offshore and cable installation vessels, a hopper #dredger and fallpipe #vessel, as well as supporting equipment, to handle some 114 kilometers of cables, which will connect all 53 foundations to a substation in the Dutch North Sea. Starting in the second half of 2026, the project will include all engineering, preparation and supporting activities, ensuring DEME offers a “complete solution” to OranjeWind’s partners, RWE and TotalEnergies. The cables themselves will be installed in areas with large sand waves to ensure they are buried at the required depth and stabilized with rock at the offshore substation and crossings of existing assets. The secondary #steel scope of the contract calls for the transport and installation of boat landings, access platforms and internal platforms at the monopile foundations. DEME values a “substantial” contract at 150-300 million euros. “This latest contract award highlights DEME’s ability to provide a comprehensive range of solutions to the offshore wind industry. With our diverse offshore fleet and specialized equipment, we are well positioned to successfully deliver this project, while working closely with the RWE and TotalEnergies joint venture,” said Philip Scheers, general manager, subsea power cables at DEME. “Additionally, the project will benefit from DEME's extensive experience in cable installation, particularly given the dynamic seabed environment at the wind farm location. Exciting News! In the oil and gas industry, I'm thrilled to share that Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore ASA Offshore has secured contract extensions with Subsea7 for two of its subsea construction support vessels (CSVs) – Normand Subsea and Normand Energy. Subsea7 has exercised the 2025 optional charter period for the Normand Subsea, making the contract firm until December 31, 2025. The Normand Subsea, a versatile 113-meter-long IMR vessel built in 2009 with VS 471 design, has been on contract with Subsea7 since 2009 and can accommodate up to 90 people. Additionally, Subsea7 has exercised all remaining option periods for the charter of the Normand Energy, extending the contract until March 31, 2026. The Normand Energy is a large construction vessel, 130 meters long, built in 2007 with VS 4220 design. It features a 250-ton active heave compensated crane, a 2000m² working deck, and can accommodate up to 100 people. This vessel will continue to support subsea operations in West Africa. Transforming SPMTs into giant forklifts, Mammoet Global expedited the handling of 61 transition pieces, driving efficiency in offshore wind installation for 1,900 GWh of capacity in France Mammoet Global used Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) innovatively by transforming them into giant forklifts to handle 61 transition pieces for an offshore wind project at the Breakbulk & Offshore Wind Terminal. Each transition piece, weighing 400 tonnes and standing 30 meters tall, was lifted and transported more efficiently than traditional methods, cutting the time needed for marshaling. This process supported the installation of 1,900 GWh of offshore wind capacity in France, which will power 800,000 homes annually.
